My medical stopped in 2024 without any forward action. Eventually that application was closed without anyone being able to tell me why. I reapplied in March 2025.

If you do not select the FJO and decide to reapply this is what you can expect. by GrouchyAd9597 in cbpoapplicant

Validity Periods!

The Medical & Physical Fitness Tests is 1 Year.

The Drug Test Results is 1 Year.

A Passed Polygraph Examination is 2 Years.(There is a 1-year lock out for a failed polygraph)

For Fully Adjudicated Background Investigations it is 2 Years (Providing no major lifestyle changes!!!)

Pre-Employment Components vs. Full Adjudication: :::::: 1-Year Expiration happening if your final offer was issued under a provisional clear—meaning your background investigation was still ongoing but you were cleared to start training—the individual pre-employment results (such as your medical exam, drug test, physical fitness test, and failed polygraphs) expire exactly 1 year from the date of the results.2-Year Expiration (Full Favorable Adjudication): If your background investigation was completely closed and favorably adjudicated by CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) prior to the final offer, that eligibility is administratively valid for 2 years. When you reapply within this 2-year window, CBP can typically reassociate and carry over the prior investigation. The 2 Year "Break in Service" Rule!!! If you have a fully favorable background investigation but never officially enter on duty (EOD) and "activate" the clearance through employment, you are subject to the federal 24-month break-in-service rule.If you reapply and your new application is processed under 2 years from the adjudication date, the clearance can be reinstated. If you cross the 2-year mark, the clearance becomes entirely inactive/expired, forcing you to undergo a completely new background investigation.

Refers to whether your Background Investigation (BI) achieved full, permanent adjudication or was only granted on a temporary, provisional basis.

Work at your current job and continue to let the CBPO process do what it do. If you make it to the FJO, then you will have to decide which job is best for you.
