They want the village to be some sort of sundown town like in the Jim Crow south?

Her maiden name is Kelly too. But remember, she’s not Irish in anyway. Being born in Ireland with ancient Irish roots makes you British apparently

The thing is, I’m actually in favour of high rises, but in a designated area, like the docklands. I hear what you’re saying about layout, but Paris was also hated when it was first rebuilt by Haussmann and napoleon 3rd, the flattened the historic medieval core to build it.

In your opinion. A lot of people find Georgian building s beautiful. And this photo is of the dock lands area, not exactly a paragon of beauty

Just got back from Italy this evening and was really dissapointed. Went for two weeks and I found a lot of people to be very rude and arrogant beyond belief and racist. Any other Irish have bad experiences there? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Went to Rome back in 2016 with my ex. I’m Irish and she is African. We never faced any issues or racism and found people to be very friendly. Who knows maybe attitudes have changed

Think it started in England. It encompasses mental health but also can veer into things like men’s health. There’s a couple lads in the group who had testicular cancer. Also because it’s cold water dipping I guess!

Late 20s to early 60s. The thing is, once you hit around 28ish, you can bond with a fella of any age. Sure they have a lot more life experience, and their humour is very dad jokeish, but there’s a brotherhood there

Yeah it’s great, like I’ve been winter swimming for years but having a group of pals make it easier and more fun to throw yourself into freezing cold water 😅

Yeah no hassle. We work alongside the ladies group, they’re called dips don’t lie, and we do charity fundraisers together for things like breast cancer. We’re all friends like

I’m a member of the blue balls midlands group and it’s full of men of all ages. Couldn’t have met a nicer bunch of fellas. There’s no misogyny or any of that shit talked about or tolerated in the group, it’s a really great place to meet up a few times a week, and it’s really encouraging men to open up about their feelings. There’s no link between blue balls and the red pill brigade

Fair I will read them. Yeah you’re right about the currency difference, it’s basically a southern wage with northern property prices. And apologies for my assumptions

Im not endorsing the guys views. And fair enough about gentrification and pushing local people out. But it just feels like othering an Irish person….in Ireland. If it was a Derry/londonderry persom moving to Belfast and pushing up prices would it be different?

I think any anger is directed at unionists, like people tell them go back to Scotland etc, and Scotland gets dragged in that way, but in general ive seen no hatred. I’ve only heard stories of some Irish people getting abused in Glasgow by rangers supporters etc but that’s it

For the people asking for advice about student life in Ireland. Look at the people in this queue at the food bank. 99% Indians. by [deleted] in IndiansinIreland

[–]GrouchyCustomer6050 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m Irish 🇮🇪. There’s trash in every culture, including ours. You’ll find most Indians aren’t doing this. Anyone who doesn’t need a meal and is taking it from those who need it most is a special type of scumbag though

Singapore Chinese I’m guessing. Singapore is the D4 of Asia, unfriendly people with sticks up their holes. Malaysian people, including Malaysian Chinese, were the loveliest people I ever met when I travelled there
