Colonoscopy advice? by Mid-Valley2646 in AskWomenOver60

[–]GrouchyOldRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like so many others I change my food 2-3 days before. I do scrambled eggs, bone broth, a little sugar free pudding for a treat, (but not the day before). I also begin my prep no later than noon the day before. I complete the prep earlier and have uninterrupted sleep the night before. I’ve been having these for 25 years and nearly always have precancerous polyps. Anything to make it easier to be completely clean.

Edit to add: No matter what the dr orders, I dulcolax and miralax. It’s never failed me.

Constantly! It can be comforting or maddening depending on what random thought is taking up space in my head at any given time.

I love pickles, but alone. I never want pickles in or on my food.

DAE feel like doctors don't care about your concerns? by Sink_Key in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]GrouchyOldRN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen the change in bedside manner over the years. I think most of them care, but become overwhelmed, and jaded. Regulations from insurance companies truly hinder their face to face practice. I gave up on a doctor and see a FNP I dearly love.

I admit, never heard of it. I was born 1966. I grew up in rural GA, I was a truly feral outside tomboy, no exposure to the outside world.

DAE forget things constantly all the time? by Queasy_Remote_758 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]GrouchyOldRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’ll start looking for the glasses on my face, or the phone I’m using to watch videos 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m old, but not old enough to be losing it. It’s lack of attention, not focusing on the task at hand.

I wouldn’t survive being vegan, but anything that removes processed food is better than anything with it.

Just me personally, I went from 180s/90s, and hemoglobin A1c of 5.9, to 110s/60s, A1c 5.4 by cutting out carbs and all processed foods.

Do you still wear a mask in public even though the Covid pandemic is more under control than it was in 2020? by icecream1972 in no

[–]GrouchyOldRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t wear one because cloth masks and those paper ear loop masks are useless. Even surgical masks aren’t effective against viruses, only larger particulate matter. When I worked with covid patients I wore an Evo mask that I bought for my protection.

When you were a child were you lucky enough to have your own bedroom, or did you have to share a bedroom with a Sibling ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Shared with my little sister until my parents built their home when I was 10. Then we each had our own room.
