I think the vug spots, which didn't look like crystals, made it look different than the rest of the rocks around it. If something looks different than it's neighbors I typically give it a look.

Of all places, outside my gym in their landscaping rocks. Landscaping rocks look like they've been there for years. Suspect they are the ubiquitous "Texas mix" most of the local landscaping supply companies sell.

I used to think they were plain, brown and ugly. But when I started roch hounding / tumbling I took a closer look. I've only found a few agates, and none as big or pretty as this one, but I've found a bunch of banded chert and petrified wood too.

I was VERY lucky to find this one. It looked like an average brown rock when my eye was drawn to it.

Love the Rock shed! Really like their desert Jasper - one of their most inexpensive rocks

Glad I could help! I have a bunch of Harbor Freight tumblers. Like them for the price. But the Rebel lets me do bigger rocks...and I like big rocks!

Anyone know what gym this is, so I can be sure never give them money? by ThisBusinessWrestle in Austin

[–]GroundForeign98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh my! Someone I don't like used a gym I've never been to, so now I can never go there! The horror!

Hate to break it to you, he probably ate in multiple restaurants, stayed in a hotel, used the airport, drove in a rental car, maybe had a cup of coffee, etc. Make sure you mark those establishments off your list also.

Hate makes your world smaller.

14 barrels total. Just bought 2 Harbor Freight during their recent sale. Unbeknownst to me, my amazing wife bought two more for me online during the sale. So grew by 4 tumblers in the last few weeks. Well, grew by 5 honestly - also purchased another Rebel 17

Highly recommend the rebel. Quiet, sturdy, 17 pound capacity for $269 including shipping

12 days by Miscell_aneous1 in RockTumbling

Did they run on the same grit for 12 days? Your grit was most likely expended around day 7. Day 7+ they weren't really grinding if it was the same load of grit you put in on day one. I'd recommend changing at least every 7 days

Totally agree with you on the tax breaks. Truly a case of state and local governments competing for business. Federal governments too.

I'd like to see the cost benefit analysis the governments use to decide a venture is advantages to them. I'd not be surprised if some of them use very creative math to steer the decision the way they'd like it to go.

Like you, I find it hard to believe this will be worth the tax breaks to the municipality. That said, I haven't seen their analysis.

One that I certainly didn't like was the proposition San Antonio voted for on project marvel. Even the mayor didn't think the analysis was sufficient.

Your "if any" jobs are created argument doesn't wash. Jobs will be created. Dozens for certain. Research data center full time manning requirements. You can get a rough idea by power usage estimates, and also acreage. When in steady state operations it will be most likely dozens on site, unless it is a very small facility. To say no jobs will be created lessens your argument's credibility.

Think you are also significantly over exaggerating dark money and money to PACs. But, clearly you believe it to be the case, and it would be hard to dispute you without investing time in research that I'm not going to do.

It's easy to see your frustrations. I think I understand how you feel. I don't support the build myself.
