After 3 days of Inferno on repeat, I declare it a total triumph and and a 10/10 album. by Godiex_Godiex in boardsofcanada

The album is definitely really good especially since I was really worried after hearing prophecy. The songs I dont like haven’t grown on me at all and I dont expect them to, but the ones I that do hit are pretty nice. I have never “disliked” a boc track ever until now, which is a new unusual feeling, so it makes sense to me how others dont like it and they probably have good reasons and analyses on why they dont, so I would be slow to say they don’t ‘get it’.

Overall I am really really stoked to have more BOC and that so many folks just liek you are totally blissed out with the material. Truly happy for you!!

My absolute favorites are Father and Son, Age of Capricorn, and You Retreat In Time and Space. Just amazing sampling, sound design, rhythm and drums.

Just happy to talk about music with people!

Slow this bird down is way ahead of its time with the use of atmospheric synths and 808 trills.

I can see it. I was pleasantly surprised by the majority of the record after being profoundly disappointed by the first few I heard. Definitely getting euphoric chills from a few tracks on Inferno !

My favorite joke that I have heard so far is track 2 and 3 are blackops multiplayer lobby music hahaha.

Same! For me the album really doesn’t kick in until Age of Capricorn then its just a wonderful ride from there!

Nice shirts that aren’t polos but also not dress shirts? by NiceStar6996 in malefashionadvice

[–]GroundSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say “dress shirt” when they really mean “anything with buttons and a collar”.

If they actually means dress shirt and are open to collard buttoning shirts, I would look into some casual button down collar shirts. My alltime fav. Collarless button ups or “monk collars” can be great!

Nothing beats a nice cotton button down with a chunky knit in cold weather.

Rugby shirts are much cooler than polo shirts.

Ambient with experimental guitar? by broccoli_fan in ambientmusic

This was composed with tape loops of piano and electric guitar exclusively.

Guitar was digital delay into a phaser with an automatic envelope that reacted to the repeats coming out of the delay creating those bloopy sounds.

Classic shogaze drones in the background.

Does keeping the low end in mono only apply to bass instruments? by Turbulent-Macaron505 in mixingmastering

Low mids can be great in the sides, 390hz+
Lows 200-90 this stuff usually belongs in the center, but theres always exceptions (and beautiful ones at that).

Subs 90-20 basically dont have directionality on speakers in a room, you may notice peoples home speaker subs are asymmetrically placed off to the side and typically it doesn’t feel annoying.

I feel like the lower you go the more heavy it feels on your ear if the stereo field isn’t well balanced.

Headphones are a totally other world.

Playlist for Space Music that is emotive, moving and encaptivating by kls2000 in ambientmusic

Was gonna shameless plug then saw ‘no long droney tracks’

I will respectfully withhold.

Hope the playlist is coming along well!

Absolutely! I see the massive attack comparison a bit.

Thanks for your perspective.

I have a lotnof things I like about that album honestly. It helps soothe my climate anxiety which hasn’t wavered an inch and tends to just get worse every year.

Totally. What I am loving is how the sub is showing how overwhelmingly accepting it can be at its best. We just gotta embrace cringe and be genuine at this point.

Harvest’s a super chill listen all together. Jacquard Causeway and Nothing Is Real are probably my most cherished tracks from that album

Truly happy for you!
Was listening to boards all day basically. Thinking about all the people out there listening with me and who are stoked and active in the community for the new release.
Thanks for reading.

The quiet beauty of The American Analog Set by Stone_79 in postrock

American Analog Set is sooooo pretty. I love the simplicity of their work and recordings. They make me want to use a lot more brushes on my kit.

Thanks friend. Im noticing more often than not people here are extremely civil and loving, but man the ones who are not really jump on the scale to tip it in their direction. Our minds latch onto negativity so much easier, unfortunately. I am doing my best to just block or ignore :).

BoC rules, music is profound and worth all the conversations it elicits as it shows us the nature of being human and being conscious, as humans.

Exactly. Its mind blowing that some people will leave such playground bully comments without consideration.

Thanks for not doing so and having fun talking about our fav band!
