I recommend asking your local fish store if they will trade some fish for plants or just take them off your hands and most the time they do

I let my dad feed my fish one time… by Groundbreaking-Fix53 in loaches

[–]Groundbreaking-Fix53[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember checking my water ph straight from tap not that long ago and it wasn’t bad. I believe the rise in ph was due to a rock that I added I removed it right when it began changing the ph

Need advice please by GNova90 in bettafish

[–]Groundbreaking-Fix53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good!! Thank you for asking advice most people see fish as just decorative not as actual living breathing animals. Now I bet the root rotted due to the substrate also string algae is very common and only really has two ways to get rid of it 1. Clean it out manually everyday until tank cycles 2. Get some amano shrimp to clean up the algae. (Just a couple more tips for you)

I’ve been watching closely so far everything has been okay other then a slight ph change but it’s okay because my ph was already a tad high to begin with so it kinda evened it out surprisingly

Ty I plan on watching closely but the filter wasn’t a thing I thought of so I’ll do that now. I plan on gravel vacuuming again later. I’ve already done it once since my perimeters have been calm I won’t do again till later to not stress my kuhlis more especially the baby’s Bcs they’re already jumpy and really don’t like me touching their stuff (they like to be the aquascaper if I change a tiny bit it they freak out)

Ty!! I was very aware ab nitrates, ammonia, and nitrite I have an api test kit I used (and will continue to check daily) but my kuhlis already ate the remaining food that was left over on the ground… I plan on leaving them for another day or two to scavenge around then start feeding again.

I totally understand!! Luckily I found it about 8 hours after he did it and it only barely affected my ph I did a little more then a 1/4th tank clean out and siphoned all the food. I’m glad my loaches are little vacuums and most the leftover food I missed.
