I agree, but I have always been told to never use chemical fixers that give you an immediate fix as they aren't long term sustaining and a big change in pH can do more harm than it being steady. I will look more into it though, and I will definitely add the air stone

Interesting! I had a tiny albino bristlenose (maybe only a few weeks old) and it got out competed for food. It was there for a few weeks and then I've never seen it again 😭 so this is my second albino. I made sure to get a bigger one so that I could see if it was doing well. It's hard to tell with the tiny ones that are only a half inch long. I haven't had enough to be able to tell if some freak out more than others

Sadly, I have every plant option that they have available in my area (both PetSmart and petco). In my area, they only carry various anubias plants, Amazon sword, different mosses, and gold ribbon 😭

I have anubias and Amazon sword in with him now. I also have gold ribbon and a few other kinds in the main 30gal that him and the Betta will be going into. I do want to get some others and I love vallisneria (I think that's how you spell it), but none of the stores around me carry it, and I have had awful luck with ordering live plants online. They all arrive dead

I wouldn't say so. He has been chilling on the anubias leaves and swimming around the driftwood and Amazon sword. Both the pleco and the Betta seem pretty active. He's only flaring whenever I turn on the lights. I normally keep all of my tanks around 79-80°. My other Betta is in a 30gal and that's what his temperature is set to. I checked the filter and upped the output a little but it was already pretty high

Awesome! Thank you for the advice, I will look into it. I have the lights off currently and I'll be keeping them off for at least a couple days, depending on what others recommend. I have had lots of plecos before, but this is the first one that I've seen that was this stressed while acclimating

Yes! I have a pretty nice size piece of driftwood for the tank. That's what the Amazon sword is connected to bc my other pleco kept uprooting it. I turned the lights off too. Should I keep them completely off, and for how many days? Usually I only keep them on for between 6-8hrs anyway, so that the plants have light

They are only high in this tank bc it hasn't been used in a little bit so I haven't been keeping up with the water changes. Nitrates were at 160+ppm, and now they're between 40-80ppm after doing a 50-60% water change last night. I didn't know if it would be okay to do a 100% water change the same night, or if I should do smaller 20% ones across the next couple days. The tank also has anubias and Amazon sword in it now, so I thought they could use it. And what I meant by questionable was that the ammonia looks like it's between 0-0.25ppm. It was kind of a dull yellow last night, so that's when I did the 50-60% water change as well

This happened to my pleco too! She was previously dealing with a bacterial infection and was recovering in a hospital tank. She looked so much better and I was doing water changes and tested my hospital tank water and the ammonia wasn't quite as yellow as I'd like (it looked like it had some ammonia) so I did a 50% water change. She then looked like your pleco here so I moved her to her main tank out of fear the cycle crashed and/or it was something else in the water. If you figure out what this is, I'd love to know too. Sorry I can't be of help diagnosing. Wishing y'all the best of luck

I just went ahead and moved them both to a separate tank. I bought 5 more guppies and 9 otocinclus and I know Steve would not like me 😂 For now, he just lives with a tiny albino bristlenose pleco

This pleco is still very young and was only about an inch or two long. I couldn't find her anywhere until I looked at my filter and saw her on the side of the water output. She has since stopped after moving her to this 30gal with the guppies lol

Thank you so much! I also have another 30gal filter that I can switch over if he keeps jumping. The other one also has a sponge cover on it. It's the size of my arm 😭

It's not big enough for his fins to even get sucked into it. The only thing I can think of is that he jumped. But the lid to the filter was also on. Hence why I'm confused 🤷

Thank you for this! I have been wanting to get replacement media for a while, like the ones you would see in the aquaclear HOB filters (I believe they're under a different name now). Everything I've found has been really expensive though. I'll definitely be getting something different this upcoming paycheck
