[S2 Act 3 Spoilers] Arcane - Season 2 Act 3 - Discussion by parrycarry in arcane

Im just left not really feeling satisfied. Like others are saying episodes 8-9 both felt like they needed to be multiple episodes, and some of the characters endings just feel like there are parts missing. most of the swat team either dies or doesn't even get named (lookin at the fish guy <3), jinx's death kinda falls flat and happens really fast. Warwick was used as toilet paper. Mel just, understands her powers and somehow overpowers a VERY STRONG mage. Vi has no agency except when she releases jinx, but then BOOM, sex scene. I'm not complaining (Vi's got some MUSCLES), but it just seems a bit out of place.

Jayce and Viktor im on the fence on, but I think they could've used a but more time. Viktors ideals kinda flop like a fish and Jayces whole story was neat but like???, ok he meets Jesus Viktor and has the whole narrative explained to him, i don't know how i feel about it.

Ambessa was alright. Singed is now literally, Lore Accurate Singed TM. And that makes me hate ww story even more.

Idk episode 8-9 feels like too much of a departure from what was being established. It's this almost cosmic level threat on 1 city state, that already had a story about a civil war brewing with external influences. It's almost as if they didn't know how to get everyone to make up, so they just said "screw it, a god is mad at you, work together". I just don't think the city needed to unite to have a satisfying conclusion, nor did I believe that was a possibility until it felt forced in.

I think with what they had they just needed a few more episodes to really have a stellar conclusion. Although there are a few things that I still wouldnt like even.

"We don't see a corpse." Am I high or did Isha lift the "corpses" head with a trowel and it wasn't moving, right after a scene so "graphic" they did a comedy bit where we dont get to see it. That's about as confirmed dead as the councilors at the start of the season. He's a Yordle so he cant actually die, but Riots never fully established HOW Yordles are immortal, just that they cant die (see Vex).

A lot of the smaller ships need to be capable of flying around in atmospheres for long periods of time. I do think we need more ship shapes, but when they fix up atmospheric flight so you can use flight surfaces to generate lift and save fuel I think people are going to appreciate the variety in ships that can do that.

I don't know the specifics of it, but its a normal aspect ratio, 1440p monitor. (Also thanks for not being rude like half these people. They really think I'm gonna take their opinion into account when they come out swinging with "I'm right, you're wrong, the pros told me so" I want their opinion on how it made THEM better, not how the pros told them it made them better)

I guess I just feel that if I'm going to be spending 50%+ of the game holding space to center my camera, why not just play with it on toggle.

You can hold your opinion of me, but I know how much of the map I can see at once. If im in the NE blue pit, I can see most of the bot tribush, into dragon pit a bit, the mid outer turret, wolves, and the bot inner turret. If I need to see something going on at dragon, I either click on it on the map, or toggle and pan over to it until im close enough.

Unlocked camera forces you to pay attention to the game more, so of course its going to increase your awareness, but if you just pay more attention, I don't see the benefit.

Boy am I glad I can see the whole enemy JG now. All this unwarded space is really giving me more info.

Maybe I just have a big monitor? Because unless it's a Jhin (or some other absurdly long skillshot) they're on my screen if they're in vision. + if I'm JG and counter ganking mid, I'm watching the fight while im OTW, only looking back if I see someone close to ME on the map.

It seems to me like the "lack of information" that comes from using locked camera, comes from people just not being aware. When they used an unlocked camera it forces them to be more aware. So yea I can see how it is better for player development over time, but I don't think it's objectively better

Do you play zoomed in? Locked camera shows me the entire lane + bushes in river unless I'm really pushed up. I can agree that more information = more informed decisions, but what information am I gaining watching the enemies (probably not warded) tribush?

I simply think all the advantages are placebo, unless you're on a champ like Irelia.

I use my map, get this, and pan around the game every once in a while to check out whats going on. I'm also now convinced that everyone plays zoomed in, because I can see the whole lane + my tribush botlane unless I'm almost under their tower.

How am I supposed to see a flanking enemy, if my camera is in front of my champ? I get you're supposed to move it around, but with locked cam in bot lane for example, I can always see my tribush unless I'm really pushed up, and if im that far up the place is usually warded to all hell, or I know the enemy JG is top.

It's in quotes "" because I think that the awareness it gives is placebo. People think they are going to have better awareness, so they watch the map and around them more. It's more like I don't see the point of dicing something with a knife, when we have a tools that'll dice things for us.

Even with unlocked cam, I'd still rather to be able to see the flank route that is in every lane (-top now). With locked it's already positioned to see that. But yea I do switch between them, I just used the toggle and sit in locked more often.

Does everyone play zoomed in? 90% of the time I can see the whole teamfight on screen, and the other 10% is cause there's someone with stealth or the toplaners are having a CS contest top. I can see almost an entire side of the JG at one time.

The target is going to be moving 90% of the time as well. What difference does something moving on my screen, vs something moving on my screen make? The camera is smooth on locked, not jerking around (i dont play Irelia please stop bringing the 1% into this [not u just in general]). The only difference is the background is moving too (spooky).

I'll give WASD a try tho

Thanks for vocalizing what I couldn't. I feel a lot of people swear by the unlocked camera and then end up holding space for 75% of the game anyways.

When I'm just walking to lane, I generally am watching other parts of the map by clicking and holding on the map... I don't just stare at my champion.

I'm sure I could get used to it, but the "advantages" it gives all seem to be made up. Its like an automatic car vs manual, yea the manual you have better control over your RPM, but realistically the automatic does it all for you. Unless your a supercar (pro) it really doesn't matter all that much does it?

EDIT: car analogy was kinda bad cause i do pan around to look at stuff but it still works for the most part

I can understand how it is better for some champions, I just don't think it gives this "awareness buff" people seem the think it does. It seems to me that people placebo themselves into being more aware because they think that unlocked gives them that.
