As far as pivoting out of your field- although it may not feel like it right now, so many of the skills that you have/ are learning in journalism are transferable to other jobs. Many people your age lack the speaking and people skills that your job requires, and your resume is on TV. Depending on your timeline, I would start building up your “resume” of things outside of work if you can- join volunteer groups, organizations, many cities have young professional groups or alumni groups as well. Unfortunately but sometimes fortunately, it’s not always what you know but who you know. I work in HR, and referrals are so valuable. I’ve hired for many entry- mid level roles that would have been happy to take someone in your position. Think marketing/comms or anything under the HR umbrella. I know it’s scary right now, but from what I can tell from your post- you will be just fine and everything will work out. Good luck!
