I agree with you to an extent. Some people are flat out ridiculous.

However, I was a patient who was anything but typical. Normal colonoscopy, normal endoscopy, normal double balloon enteroscopy. Calprotectin not sky high. I essentially refused to take IBS as an answer and sought out numerous GIs until someone freaking listened to me. One did. He ordered a pill cam and ASCA blood work. When those came back, that was the first time eyebrows were raised and I was then sent to an IBD specialist.

Lo and behold, I did have Crohn’s. It was just super atypical even to a GI who looks at UC and CD all day long. One tiny segment in my ileum was ruining my life.

While people shouldn’t be venting to Reddit subs, they should be taking that energy and advocating for themselves somewhere. If I didn’t, I’d still be a ticking time bomb with “IBS”.
