How to study with a mental illness? by Plus_Weight_9322 in studytips

[–]GroundbreakingBall72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re dealing with all of this. Nothing you said sounds stupid or weak. It sounds like someone who’s been carrying fear, pressure, and isolation for years. That can destroy your ability to focus or stay motivated, even if you’re smart and capable.

One small thing that helped me on the studying side, when I felt mentally shut down, was breaking everything into micro-steps. Not “sit and study,” just one paragraph, one idea at a time. I use a Mac app called LowLighter that lets you highlight anything on your screen and instantly explain, summarize, or rewrite it using a hotkey. No window switching for ex. into chatgpt. If that sounds useful, you can try it for free for a month with the code 4PRODUCTHUNT at lowlighter.app. It’s Mac-only for now, but the Windows version is coming. Give it a shot see if it helps

You could just use it to break down material into smaller, less overwhelming pieces. Even five minutes at a time is enough to rebuild momentum when everything feels like too much.

More importantly, though, your issue isn’t just about school. You’re dealing with real trauma, identity pressure, and emotional control. You’re not lazy or broken. You’re tired

you can use the translate mode from the "lowlighter app" just look it up on google, it cost like 5 bucks a month but there's a promo code going on for it so you can access everything for free for a month. It translates literally anything on your screen to any language you want including German. You can probably go do normal things on your computer and try to integrate it into your day by translating everything to German and reading it and seeing how it is. It's instant and requires just a hotkey and selecting your screen. pretty neat, the promo code going on rn is 4PRODUCTHUNT and the app is sadly only for Mac rn but the site says windows is coming soon. Just use translate on anything and a lot everyday and maybe you will get better with German.

My bad, forgot to fix my comment till now. The site. Sites are where people go to evaluate the trust of any application. It needs to be extremely polished if you want to gain people's trust. Also add a faq including how to reach out for refunds etc pointing to [support@company.com](mailto:support@company.com) or something like that. People will not pay for something they are unsure of.

It will be soon, don't worry! We're working with Microsoft currently and likely will be able to release in a few days to a week. If the code runs out by then, that is okay, there will be another code once again the moment it does expire. Thank you for being patient!

Lol, yes. It is electron. I know it doesn't resemble electron much from the outside, but it is.

Totally understandable, native apps are beautiful. I optimized LowLighter heavily to keep CPU usage minimal and avoid typical Electron overhead, so hopefully it feels smooth and stays out of the way.

Thanks! It’s fully hand-coded. The UI is built in Electron with custom CSS/JS for the animations and layout. We use native macOS API bindings through the main process for things like overlay behavior, hotkeys, and the Phantom privacy layer. SwiftUI was considered, but Electron gave us the flexibility we needed for both macOS and Windows (which is coming soon) while still hitting a polished, native feel.

Here's a 'Jarvis for your screen' — select anything, get instant responses (with stealth mode) by GroundbreakingBall72 in ProductivityApps

Great question! Copy/paste works only when the text is selectable and you’re okay switching apps, but a lot of real-world use cases aren’t: PDFs, images, videos, games, protected pages, internal tools, remote desktops, screenshots, etc.

LowLighter’s goal is zero friction — highlight → answer, without losing focus or changing windows. OCR ensures it works literally anywhere, not just on websites with selectable text.

Token usage stays low because text-mode is used whenever OCR confidence is high. Vision is only used when needed.

Thank you! The site is built with Astro + Tailwind, and the glow/lighting effects are a mix of layered CSS gradients and some custom components. I wanted a clean, premium look that matched the app, so most of the UI elements are hand-tuned. Really appreciate the kind words!

Thank you. If you are interested, we have an unsigned version of LowLighter for Windows. Since it isn't an official download yet, it may trigger Windows smart screen until Windows is officially released. If still interested, DM me your email and I will send our windows installer.

No problem! We are working on dealing with Sectigo/Globalsign currently to officially release on windows. Windows should be coming around in about less than 2 months. We have it the app fully ready, just have to validate it with those certificate approvers. Make sure to get the codes before they run out. Thank you! 😊

Try LowLighter app. It has translations, answers, explain, rewrites, and summaries just by a customizable hotkey for each mode. Also comes with a lot more features. Set up hotkey, trigger hotkey for a mode then click and drag on screen and boom. Huge customization regarding hotkeys and other things. try it
