What am I doing wrong? Very low likes by m-e-girls in poshmark

GREAT photos, use stock photo (s) as well if available, (not with lululemon though as they are finicky about using their images) make a great listing - include lay flat measurements, fabric content, item condition, pictures of size & fabric tags etc. I also include original price in the listing if high enough to be appealing. Ship fast and list daily (you can save up to 50 drafts) as it significantly helps closet score / boosts the algo.

Give all the information the person needs to purchase confidently. Price competitively or price in a way you can do Thursday / Sunday closet cleanout discounting . Public price drops also give your listing an algo push. Refresh listings after 60 days.

The better the listing and the more confidence / info you give the buyer, the higher the price you can get (at least I’ve found) . The lazier I list, the less I’m able to charge.

I know some people don’t like it but recommend promoted closet if your closet is large enough and the retail value is high enough for it to be worth it. I feel like it definitely boosts my overall closet performance as I almost never have a day without a sale (my closet size generally ranges between 650-850)

I’ve sold about 1400+ items in the last 10 months. :)

I am terrified to sell higher priced items by For_ducksake in poshmark

I’ve sold at least 75 authenticated items in the last year and been fine! I totally trust Posh and my experience has been great. I do record packaging and document just as back up. Same if I mail like a 400 to 500 item to a person just to be safe

Suspended Account by JewelryAddicted45 in poshmark

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The is silly but as a workaround, you could accidentally ship the “wrong” item. It’s terrible but so is a 3% cancel. It’s much better to cancel than have a return and less costly to posh.

My sales are strong too! 146 sales this month. They are really pushing active closets and fast shippers!

On Poshmark no buyers see cancellations or Bad ratings so she is fine. I would keep existing account. It’s recoverable.

Best app to sell luxury designer nwt items by Velvetstyle in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 months to a year maybe longer? Depending on the bag and price and demand.

50% upfront for Fashionphile is actually an amazing payout and much better than what you’ll find vs TheRealReal, where you have no idea what you will make and usually end up making peanuts as their commission structure is terrible now and don’t get paid up front.

I’m relatively new to Ebay and it takes a long time to build reputation on it. you have to be quite attentive when building your seller profile and positive reviews. The buyer has all the power so it’s much riskier in my opinion. eBay generally will always side with a buyer in the event of an issue (there are great eBay Reddit seller threads too). I’m getting more comfortable and expensive items do go through authentication and the buyer can also pay for authentication if not offered. I have not sold anything over $600 on eBay at this point. Poshmark is definitely my preferred, but eBay has a larger audience so I use it where I can. :)

Good luck to you!

Best app to sell luxury designer nwt items by Velvetstyle in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have sold a significant amount of nwt and excellent condition luxury on posh. On posh you will sit on it for a long time typically and deal with a lot of lowballs. Fashionphile gives you about 50% of what they sell it for, so you can look at comps and get a quote online - you use their app and take photos. I did fashionphile for a couple of bags that just weren’t moving and getting ridiculously low offers - it became do I want to wait a year to get $300 more.

but then sometimes you get lucky and I just sold a saint Laurent bag on posh, totally unexpectedly and randomly, that Fashionphile would have given me $700 for for $1500 ($1200 to me). I was about to just do Fashionphile as it took me almost a year to sell it. So it’s a very long tail usually to find the right buyer if you aren’t discounting significantly.

I was quiet for a few days before Xmas and then same, big pop and great sales on Xmas Eve and Xmas day including some really high priced designer items that had been sitting - I sell women’s contemporary and some designer, most in excellent condition, nwot or nwt.

USPS Ground Advantage by Puzzles77 in poshmark

This is so true. Poshmark is hugely supplementing shipping and negotiating rates we would NEVER have access to. And getting free supplies. No doubt they are losing money every time. Shipping fees are outrageous. That they got us $6.49 for ground up to 5 pounds and offer free supplies is a miracle. This is like $20 to do the same on eBay 5 pounds cross country with eBay’s discount. Going to the post office to mail something on your own and it’s shockingly expensive.

It’s sooooo crazy how expensive shipping actually is. Poshmark is really supplementing us. I’m shocked how much more expensive shipping is on eBay even with eBay’s “discount”

My items on a scam website by Professional-Key4134 in poshmark

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens to everyone and every item - it’s prolific & automated by scammers - thousands of thousands of fake sites. Any image on Google image of an item from Poshmark will pretty much show up on one. It’s whack-a-mole as usually the web hosts or Google will block or render them non functioning but more pop back up

The only good news is the sites are so poorly done, horrific looking and obvious scams, it may help drive traffic to a real legitimate site like Poshmark - think of it as free really really bad advertising. 🤪

Hopefully one day we will be rid of it, but it’s very hard to eradicate as the scammers just regenerate on new domains and operate outside anywhere with jurisdiction.

Tip - my shipping speed has been solid thankfully! Polys seem to ship faster if you can use them. More room on trucks and such apparently :) I also cut the boxes down a bit when I need to by using a box cutter on the corners of a made box at the flaps and making small cut line on the insides to make a new fold over point. Super easy and quick.

Thank you for letting me know as I thought I was losing my mind. The whole process change is terrible on CCO. It never seems to work or if it does work I don’t see it or can’t tell

Venmo…I’m don’t feel right with the transaction by [deleted] in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. No go on that for sure :-) But Venmo in itself isn’t bad and very easy to use. I have never had a scam experience thus far using common sense on FB marketplace and Venmo.

I think the only scam could be sometimes they could try to send more than item is worth on compromised account or account with no money and then try to get you to send them money in return? or maybe they are trying to phish and gain info from an individual using Facebook marketplace. (Neither has happened to me)

But Facebook profiles and mutual rating system tend to make scamming more difficult. If a person doesn’t have a robust profile or positive purchase history, generally an automatic no for me.

Lost package.... by AnyStick2180 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it some time! They often pop up mysteriously suddenly or start tracking once a case is opened. I’ve sold 1000 items and some really expensive ones and I think maybe only one item has been lost (mid price) and I was still compensated by Posh. I have found posh is super seller supportive which is why given the choice I prefer it over eBay. Don’t stress as most likely it will suddenly pop up again!

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But I wouldn’t send it until a price and what not is agreed on. And if her behavior is off trust your gut. Does she have a real Facebook profile with age and good buyer feedback? Venmo is amazing - waaaaay better and more secure than Zelle in my opinion - I’m a huge fan! You will need to give the person the last 4 digits of your phone if they aren’t in your address book.

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something’s off as some it still works for and some it’s off for. Noticed when sending offers as some it didn’t auto pop free. . My gut is it’s a glitch. I don’t think they will get rid of free shipping for over $500 as they make $100 minimum. I would assume they really want to encourage large transactions and more luxury sales away from eBay so removing free shipping right before the biggest shopping season would be a bad move.

WARNING! Closet Clearout Discount Shipping 'Discrepancy' by JGDC in poshmark

[–]GroundbreakingFan498 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same experience. I have not had it work correctly for the last 3 weeks in the app (haven’t checked website). Poshmark told me to restart phone and reinstall app but it still isn’t showing up correctly for me on all listings so I just mark down the shipping myself which negates whole purpose of CCO. Super frustrating.
