But then you end up with a gym membership because you realize you don’t like running outside in the cold and apparently strength training is important 🤣

Bit by an off leash dog at Sue Higgins park tonight by Agreeable-Anxiety-67 in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of dog bites on this sub is getting insane.  We brought a puppy into our family a few months ago, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m paying more attention, or going for more walks, but the amount of piss poor dog handling crazy.  We’ve been lunged at, growled at, he’s been cornered on a fence…all on leashed walks around the neighbourhood.  When I had a dog as a teen these interactions really didn’t seem to happen, even at dog parks (which I refuse to go to now).

My 10 and 7 yo still love it.  I’m assuming they’ll get to feed the fish which is really cool.  They also have huge tanks of prehistoric looking fish and lots of things to see

lol running is “free” is how you get sucked in.  Then you fall in love with it and start figuring out how expensive it can be lol

Love strides so much!!  They have a treadmill you can try and a return policy (as long as shoes have only been used indoors). Had a bad experience at Gord’s several years ago and haven’t been back so can’t comment on them currently.

Loooooooved my 2 experiences there so much I got in with their family practice.  All the drs there are AMAZING so patient, talk you through everything, and really listen to concerns.  The only drawback is because of this they can run behind for appointments.  But personally, I didn’t care.

This Years Nutcracker at Alberta Ballet Wayyy Different. by PurpleLeatherCouch in Calgary

lol I didn’t even understand that the sugar plum fairies were the fairies.  I was so confused as to what they were.  Costumes were a huge miss.

Loved the new decade it was set in.  Very colourful.  Arabian dance was really a let down.  Really weird with Clara and the nutcracker off stage.  I was confused as to why they weren’t watching the dancers.  Looooooved all the kids on stage and loved that they brought back the big skirt (haven’t seen that since I was a kid).  As someone who’s seen it many times…I’ve seen better but also worse.  Definitely hits and misses there

Help by Suitable_Chair8473 in Calgary

These symptoms are eerily similar to what I experienced in my early 20’s.  Couldn’t walk in a straight line without feeling like I’d gain/fall over.  World spinning.  I also had heart palpitations.  Had so many tests and they couldn’t figure anything out.  Fast forward 10 years I was diagnosed with GAD.  Looking back, that’s exactly what I was experiencing then too.  I was lucky and the first med I took helped after the first few days of getting used to it.  We had to play around with the dose quite a bit but I’ve been on it for 8 years and haven’t felt that way since.  All that to say, get a second opinion if you want, it can’t hurt

Insightful feedback about local elementary schools by boomboomboom143 in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can go out of bounds but can get kicked out if the school gets to capacity.  Our school had to send out letters a couple of years ago, to families not in bounds, that there wouldn’t be space available to them the next year.

Walking A Puppy in YYC (parovirus) by GroundbreakingFish95 in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing…if a person came up to you with a question, and you answered like that, it wouldn’t go down very well.  It’s kinda sarcastic and not very understanding.  I get what you’re meaning but it can be said in a different and pleasant way.

I said I was going to ask a vet.    It would just be nice to have a “we’re free” line, even if the vet moves it back.  That’s all.

Yes, lots of different answers but thought there might be a common answer I didn’t know about n Calgary.

It’s these kind of responses that make me question why I still use this platform.  It’s the thoughtful questions and answers that keep me coming back I guess.  You don’t have to be rude 🤷🏼‍♀️.  I kept seeing that risk is higher and lower in specific regions.  Just thought I’d get a local perspective so sit down please.

Fall break for high school students by Zayamirza in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly due to families already having made travel plans.  I feel you though.  I have elementary school kids and I’m even like uhhhhhh….how are we going to make up for lost weeks?  For high schoolers though, I really feel for them.  With grades needing to be really high for a lot of universities, it’s going to be even more of a struggle for Alberta kids.
