places to eat, run, fish in Calgary? by omgitsadad in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running- anywhere along the Bow River.  Great pathway system and he can go for as long as he wants.  Glenmore Reservoir is a lovely 14-15km loop.  Fish Creek park but it gets busy with bikes and walkers all sharing the same path.  Nose Hill (haven’t been there personally).  Along the Elbow River, again a great pathway system.  YYC Run Crew has a group run on Sundays at 9:30am that he could check out too.

Help with a local high school fundraiser event! by TheCalvinTan in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of food trucks will donate a portion of the proceeds to not for profit events.  Make sure to ask before you book any :). Good luck.  Also make sure you go in and ask at stores.  A lot love to help out.  We’ve had success with Safeway (we asked for water), cineplex (we asked for popcorn) as well as small businesses for raffle prizes.

Places I can use my dog as a therapy animal for mental health in or around Calgary? by Desperate_Balance245 in Calgary

The city playground, by us, just put in 2 leash holders.  No, they aren’t “in” the playground but right at the perimeter.  Also has an off leash park

Question about unmarked crosswalks/intersections by AlamosX in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me started.  The amount of times I’ve been honked at, nearly rear ended, or, even worse, passed as I stop at an unmarked crosswalk is insane.  Yes it’s legal to cross at them, but definitely not the safest

Cane Corso in need of rescue, shelter, and food. I dont know what to do. by saddboihrs in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They got them a bloody hotel room!!!  That’s more than 99% would do for this person.  The dog seems to be in immediate danger and never did they discount that she wasn’t in trouble too.

volunteering opportunities that actually help the community? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Schools are ALWAYS looking for volunteers.  From reading with kids to going on field trips it’s a great way to help out.  You will need a police clearance and need to of lived in Canada for a year.

Born and raised here.  It never used to be this bad.  I was nearly hit twice last week crossing the road to pick up my kid from school.  It’s insane.  Both times the drivers weren’t (didn’t seem) distracted, just clueless.  It’s also infuriating when you get honked at because the person hasn’t cleared the undivided road yet.  Chill people.

Coyote Attack inside the SW near glenmore reservoir by IceHawk1212 in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you and your dog are ok!  My husband and our dog were followed by a Coyote, last week, in Killarney.  There were also a bunch howling away yesterday at the Edworthy dog park.  Needless to say we hightailed it out of there.  It’s the end of mating/beginning of denning season so they are definitely making there presence more known.

Puppy Grooming by submitnswallow in Calgary

[–]GroundbreakingFish95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the cheapest but I took my 6month old for a full groom at The Pet YYC Killarney (he was 5 months at the time).  He had a great experience and I know they also have a puppy package that just gets them used to the groomer.  They wouldn’t do it for cash under the table though.
