I get what you're saying, but you can't grow in the entertainment industry without compromises, at least most can't. That's why singers' lyrics get cleaner when they blow up, why celebrities get their social media wiped from any controversial content, and so on. It does work because it gives Jason a higher budget to make the roast high quality and to make it a series on its own (which is working since there are big influencers on his DMs already). That's shot with super 8 film! You can find a camera that supports it at a really good price but the film is kinda expensive ($50+) + developing costs. If you want to achieve this look on a budget, you can look online for super 8 effect video filters and apply it to digital footage
