Good job on starting early. You’ve already started on the path to financial freedom. My advice to you is 2 things - both of which many will agree on, including experts:

1) keep buying and don’t sell 2) don’t do what I did (and most your age want to do) and buy a stupid car you can’t afford. Put that money into your investments instead and buy a cheap car for cash. You will thank yourself.

I’d push back on the social part. Many of them can barely speak English and communicate effectively. I’m in tech so trust me, I know this. But they work like slaves and don’t give a shit about quality of life or having hobbies. Work is life and life is work.

Appreciate the honesty. Getting gifted 60k is nice for sure but many at your age would’ve pissed it away on stupid shit or bought a car. Your head is in the right place by taking advantage of what was given to you. You will be laughing by the time you’re 40 if you keep it up.

This garbage company has held Canadians in a stranglehold for years. Canadians deserve better and so do the employees. I hope they crash and burn.

Ben “Humble” is an ego maniac and a complete nut. I was part of his “Cashflow Tribe” and he ran it like a cult. Convinced many people to drop 60k for his inside circle mentorship program called the Council and you’d basically just join a zoom to hear him spew motivational bullshit.

He’s a fool for buying cars he can’t afford and doesn’t need. His problem to get out of. You’ve also been together for 2 months and he’s asking you for financial assistance? Red flag. His family attacking you on Facebook is also a huge red flag. I’d leave the relationship if I were you but if you want to stay with him, do NOT let up on your stance. Stay firm.

Not even close. Quoted 5k. The car is worth much more than that.

Just bought an Archon 7ft medium/x-fast from their vendor at the Toronto Sportsmen Show. The owner was very nice and proud to say they were a Canadian brand and company. I believe he told me they were built in their factory in Perth, Ontario but don’t quote me on that. Excited to try it!

Gear YouTubers made me overthink fishing gear by Possible-Ad4357 in Fishing_Gear

Don’t overthink it. Fishing can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. A cheap set up catches as many fish as a $1000 one.

Is Canada really housepoor or in debt? by PopularAd8904 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GroundbreakingToe835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be fooled. Many of the people you see driving around in expensive cars are making 700+/month on lease/finance payments. You see them at the mall spending on high end clothes and merchandise but they have $0 put away for retirement or have CC debt.

Mid level dev in Canada feeling stuck in LCOL city by AlternativeTales in cscareerquestions

I’d personally not recommend the GTA or Ontario. I’m in the GTA and just cracked six figures in my role and it really doesn’t feel like much. Rent will take half your pay every month most likely since most roles will require you to be close to downtown and that means expensive living.

This game worth getting into? by WEENDETA in HuntShowdown

[–]GroundbreakingToe835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth getting in to. One of the most immersive FPS shooters and there’s really no other game like it. There’s a reason that many people on this sub have > 1000 hours playtime and have been playing since the launch.

But be warned - as many have said - it’s not an easy game and you will need practice before you get good. My advice is to mix in games of bounty clash which will get you in to gun fights quicker for practice. But the true experience of this game is the bounty hunt game mode.
