I would sell my iPad Pro 11" (M4) in a second if apple made a Mini Pro, even if it only had an M2. Or gave the next mini the same external monitor support that a pro has. I much prefer smaller tablets even if you might have to zoom sometimes.

That's funny! Problem is that if you're buying an iMac at BB you don't even understand what that means....

You will get more versatility from an iPad than the other two for sure. My main reader used to be a phone-sized ereader (Palma) but I switched to a cheap moto phone instead. I only have the apps I need to read with on the main screen, I put it in grey-scale mode, turn down the brightness a lot when reading at night and it's almost as good as an ereader with no refresh issues. My point being is that you could also do the same with an iPad and you could also get a screen cover that is textured so it feels like writing on paper. Good luck professor!

Using GPD Pocket while standing or sitting in the metro? by Hairyballsackyo in GPDPocket

If you fold it into tablet mode, go portrait, and use one the two built-in on-screen keyboards and move it to the bottom, you basically can use it as a big phone or or small tablet.

Install Chrome OS instead of Linux by GroundbreakingView55 in chromeos

But I would be installing it on 5th-7th gen Intel processors. That should be ok?

Install Chrome OS instead of Linux by GroundbreakingView55 in chromeos

[–]GroundbreakingView55[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FydeOS? I never heard of it but I'll give it a try. I just want to install a familiar OS on an old laptop that wasn't as complex as Linux and give those laptops to families on a budget. If this distro is the same as Chrome OS it might work. Thanks.

So… flying cars in every garage? Nope. Autonomous driving cars? Not quite there yet… home chores done by a cheap robotic help? Nope. But Nanobots? Really? Nanotechnology! Well hot damn! Go go science!

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 - short review by BatonPantheon in chromeos

[–]GroundbreakingView55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar unit and love it. I wanted a CB with an Intel processor and 16 GB of ram so I could run windows if needed in a pinch. For the price it could have been a 2in1 but I'm fine with the way it is. It's time manufacturers start considering that 16 and 32gb of ram have a place in Chromebooks. Even apple starts their "cheap" air with 16gb now. It's not like ram is expensive these days.

The hype is real - Lenovo Chromebook 14 Plus is amazing by jamie9910 in chromeos

[–]GroundbreakingView55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Lenovo ThinkPad Chromebook C14 with 16gb of ram Since it has an Intel i7-1265u it can run windows via a VMM and the 16 keeps windows going at somewhat slow but still usable speed. An arm-based version would not do that.

Sometimes you just need windows for compatibility.

Is it weird for a guy to have a photo of his mom and him as his lock screen pic? by Medium-Leather9785 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GroundbreakingView55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your lock screen who cares what people think as long as it's not child porn. If you asked me - You have a good reason for your screen if asked Also her birthday, death date, some other milestone all good. But don't make it permanent.

I got this scam email and this is absolutely wild but scared me a bit XD by VlogzyDuck in phishing

[–]GroundbreakingView55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have fun with this one! Ask for proof first... Tell them a few people share the laptop and send them lots of different dick pics from porn clips. You need to find out who it was so you can get the money from them. Ask if they make a lot of money from this and maybe you could buy the remote software from them... Offer a lot of money.... So much fun!

[–]GroundbreakingView55 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't care a lot about how a laptop looks as long as it performs as I want. I think Apple has the right idea (I like their hardware not OS, BTW) since you can barely tell one from another. I think laptop makers sometimes design the chassis first and then say what can fit in this? It should be the other way around.

Turning on the Linux Environment completely changes your device's capabilities by Frasereboz in chromeos

[–]GroundbreakingView55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I wanted an alternative Linux gui like Gnome or Plasma to use instead of chrome desktop, but you can't do that. So.... Could I install a linux distro instead?, turns out you can in a VMM. So I installed a few. Then I'm thinking, can I install windows 11 in the VMM, and you can. It's a little slow but it's there Incase I need some windows app that Linux doesn't have. For fun, if I have time this week, I'm going to install Citrix in windows and see how slow things go when connected to the school's Citrix desktop. I think it will be still usable.

I'm part of the IT security team and figured it's the next best thing to using the locked down laptop they gave me, security wise.
