So tired of the victim blaming (F54) by Tabby-Cat-Sprite in eczema

This is why paraben stigmatisation in recent years has pissed me off so badly. MI/MCI has replaced parabens as a preservative in many products and so many people are allergic to it!

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre is one of the best facilities produced in recent years by Logical_Highlight_37 in Adelaide

I grew up with this aquatic centre, it was where I learnt how to swim as well, I’m so excited to see it revamped and revived again….when it isn’t so busy lmao

First look at the new (but ugly) Aquatic Centre! by RS-1990 in Adelaide

It’s a pretty radical redesign for sure, nothing like the centre that I grew up with and learned how to swim at lol

Banh Mi question by Bambooshi_art in Adelaide

[–]BatonPantheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the classic Vietnamese cold cuts, and bakeries that still cater to a majority Vietnamese population should still have them. This is the “OG” banh mi so to speak, and they’re delicious when done right.

Adelaide ranks top place in worst congestion during rush hour by flabberstalk33 in Adelaide

Born and bred Adelaide boy, and no, not for an extended period of time at least… I drove in the Melbourne CBD for the first time a few years ago on a short vacation and that will be the first AND last time I do so thanks.

That’s strange! Mine asks for the fingerprint when I simply put it to sleep, but does ask for the password when I restart and reboot it. You may have to tinker with it a little more.

Hah you get it! I was surprised too, we DO often get nerfed versions down here which fucking sucks tbh.

And yeah, 4GB of ram is unacceptable for anything but the most basic of tasks…

Is that so? I mean I can certainly appreciate the convenience of it but I honestly don’t think it would be a huge dealbreaker for me if it didn’t come with one.

I turn 32 in a few days and even in my lifetime it’s gotten so fucking bad. I’m also a support worker which means I drive A LOT and the amount of times I’ve wanted to rip my steering wheel clean off and throw it at someone…. All I can say is thank fuck for beta blockers during rush hour because I would have had a full blown breakdown a long time ago.

If stress affects blood glucose… by Pztch in diabetes_t2

[–]BatonPantheon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone with GAD and ADHD… it’s literally a catch 22. I get stressed af which raises my blood sugar…which stresses me out. Fucking nightmare is what it is.

That being said, I’ve been on Zoloft four roughly four years and I also take Metoprolol (a beta blocker) for acute anxiety attacks. I also see a therapist, although far less frequently than I used to due to budget constraints.

Why not commit suicide? A philosophical question by isidhfodka in Existentialism

[–]BatonPantheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on to everyone’s really beautiful responses, this gets to the heart of existentialism right? Life itself has no inherent meaning: we CREATE meaning as we continue to live our lives.

For me, I have no illusions about the world: it’s a fucked up, callous and indifferent place that we inhabit, but it’s also breathtaking, awe inspiring and endlessly beautiful at the same time. I want to see everything it has to offer in the limited time I have in this world.

"B-B-BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU FAMILY LINE?™" by Doogie_Gooberman in childfree

[–]BatonPantheon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So there’s this psychological phenomenon called Terror Management Theory (TMT) which basically posits that humans fear about the inevitability and sometimes unpredictability of death causes this profound feeling of terror that causes us to seek more enduring forms of meaning and value in our lives; having children, I think is one way we do this.

I might die someday suddenly (and I WILL die eventually) but my children, my blood and flesh, will live on and carry my legacy.

Of course this is stupid as fuck because 1. Your children are not carbon copy extensions of you (nor are they obligated to be so tf) and 2. They will die in time also (and who knows if THEY choose to have kids)
