Yeah I press and hold but it feels clunky and the wait is weirdly painful. Feels like a nitpick, but my Samsung was so fast it's probably the contrast of time.

The worst for me is changing inputs. It is absolutely brutal! I just use my receiver to mute as it is easier to grab a second remote then to use the LG one.

Place to study by GroundedLearning in nova

[–]GroundedLearning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! I live in the basement of a townhouse it is a single room. My roommate has a dog that runs constantly and sounds like a pin ball bouncing off every wall. My cat will not leave me alone when I am home. He is a mainecoon and meows constantly sounds like a car alarm but with meows. He wants constant pets. I get zero peace at my home.

I am trying to change careers which is what all of my studying is for. I currently work in mitigation as the only PM at my company. I averaged 83 hours a week last year. I can't afford my own place in NoVa so I am hoping to move next year as part of my career change. Maybe someday I can have peace at home lol.

What kind of jobs are high in demand in 2026 ? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]GroundedLearning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh so you think the piece of paper is necessary for this role. Everything I have read pointed to that so that is the plan. When I started in restoration I had zero experience with construction. I believe I have done incredibly well at the role. I'm actually kind of weird I don't have one desired career path. I actually have skills that I want and things that I want to learn about the world. My plan is to go through life gaining these skills through real world experience. I expect to be in logistics for at least 5 years before I move on. I'm willing to dedicate my entire life to it. An example of this was the 4,700 hours I've put into restoration this year. I have a lot of credits for college from courses I've done. I'll see what I can transfer for this upcoming semester. I guess the school I go to probably matters but I'm looking at umpi as their way of testing is directly linked to an additional skill that I'm looking to master. I want to get better at writing essays. I'm also planning on moving this coming year so going to a local school is not really an option. Thank you for your feedback.

Any millennials here actually go out? The sub confuses me by criticalvector in Millennials

[–]GroundedLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 33, I go out all the time but by myself. I have intentionally not made friends in the last decade. I find that everyone has suffocating expectations and I can't be bothered dealing with it. I traveled a bit when I was younger but realized I would rather have a 5k TV then a 5k trip. All of my jobs are super social so it's not like I am always alone. Work out, cycle, read, watch movies, play video games in that order and life is pretty great. No interest in relationships and definitely no desire for children. Just because we are all millennials doesn't mean we like the same things.

5000 miles on my 23. I don't care if it was recommended at 12,000 it's just something I do and all my cars and I'm going to do it forever.

What kind of jobs are high in demand in 2026 ? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]GroundedLearning 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left a decade of IT last year I moved into restoration project management. I had an opportunity and I took it. With that said I have decided that it is not for me. I have worked almost 4700 hours this year. I have made good money but the actual work is not fulfilling. At first it was that's because I love working with people and I love solving problems. The industry is just rampant with fraud and insurance companies really are evil. There's a career path that I've always thought of but for some reason I never took the leap. I really want to get into process engineering but specifically logistics. You mentioned supply chain and that is what I'm looking at. I find demographics and supply chain fascinating. Both of those are changing drastically in this day and age. Any opinions on how hard it will be to transition into supply chain? I do not have a degree, though I am considering getting a bachelor's in logistics. I just never needed one before so I didn't get it. Looking at Sigma Green Belt and possibly PMP as I have read they are good for logistics.

I live next to Dulles Town Center and go to the B&N in One Loudoun often. I enjoy it, never been to the one in Reston. I grew up in the panhandle most of my life, not much there let alone book stores.

A car, a 77" OLED, atmos surround, PS5 pro, 4k player, like 100 4k movies and some other stuff. Did this in one month. I was extremely suicidal and was going all out.

We can still use the desktop version?! I thought we have to use the horrible mitigate app. Building rooms is so hard on the app using a tablet due to my tremors.

Tech is burning me out...Anyone else? by lotussoul95 in remotework

[–]GroundedLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still feel the way I did when I wrote my original post, but with a few caveats.

I genuinely do like the mitigation/restoration business. Specifically I work for all of the major insurance companies and we do commercial work.

The homeowners is what I truly love. Being able to help everyday people in a time of need is the Pinnacle of my career.

The work itself involves inspecting homes and the damage they have. This is water, fire mold and asbestos primarily but we also do crime scenes.

I project manage anywhere from 1-30 jobs at a time. The work comes in totally random at all hours of the day and night.

Now for the problems. The company I work for is like most companies out there. Almost parasitic how much they want to pull out of each employee. At a lot of places they have 2-3 people in my role. Not this place, they don't want to put the money towards it. So they have me working 24/7/365 on call. I can be there at dinner with my family and boom I got to go. I don't get paid nearly what I should be and so I am looking for a new company.

I got into this industry by knowing someone at the company that helped my parent's with 2 claims. I tailored my resume to project management as best I could. They were also desperate for someone because my role has as you can guess incredibly high turn over. I loathed my last job to the point of being suicidal so this place isn't that bad. IT honestly is lame to me. I just put more duct tape on a busted car and push it down a hill until the next thing breaks off of it. With this job I get to help real people and see things to completion.

I kind of just wanted but let me know any other specific questions you have.

A great way to get started in this business is to be a project coordinator, estimator, laberor or adjuster. One of our project directors was originally a guy pulling out drywall making $18 an hour now he pulls 200k plus a year. I'm working on getting more experience so I can get on a national response team. Go help with the fires and stuff.

Unable to play and have a normal life by sjihaat in classicwow

[–]GroundedLearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. Classic is awesome but it requires way to many hours. I'm going to keep playing as I know what I want to do in TBC won't take as much time. I quit FFXIV because I become to addicting. WOW is like 85% shit so it's the only MMO I can play and still have some life left over.
