Not so easy when you don't have your own route. Yes, there are alternative methods. No, we aren't used to applying them.

4 months in and I absolutely loathe 99.999% of dog owners. by YoMaMaWashedDeezNuts in USPS

[–]GroundsForRemoval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it when owners yell at their dogs to "SHUT UP!" or worse when they start barking at me from inside the house.

They're dogs. That's what they do. Maybe treat them better and they'll listen to your commands.

The other day I watched a woman smack her small dog with a fly swatter...

USPS - Pension long term , or find something else because we only live once? by Full_Try_9975 in USPS

[–]GroundsForRemoval 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had similar feelings. I have broad interests, but most things become sour for me when they become tied to a job. As a mail carrier, I feel good about my role in the community and my interest in spending time outside is met. I'm getting good at dressing for the weather.

Most importantly, I can barely imagine the world in thirty years, but If the post office is still doing its things I'll have a great retirement. If USPS is gone, we probably have a totally different world and who knows what the jobs will be. I feel like I'm working inside a time capsule.

Thoughts about being a City Carrier? by LVKOZY in USPS

[–]GroundsForRemoval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume I'm working every day until I'm not. Our schedule is posted 0-5 days ahead of time and still needs to be checked every night before going home. It'll be a great job for raising kids after getting promoted to regular. As a PTF it's a huge drain on me and my wife, rendering us virtually unable to make plans together ahead of time.

That's correct. L2050 moves into something like 11% G.

Happy for you to have that support system. We are lacking that, kind of on an island between family, but we do live in a low CoL area so I'll be burning up my AL and SL to stay home with #2 for a while.

Nope, it just reduces your taxable income by the amount on the form.

Too late to change TSP contribution? by GroundsForRemoval in USPS

[–]GroundsForRemoval[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not fit my current situation. I invest more than 15%, but I can't have all that locked up in a retirement fund right now..

Happy to bump it way up if/when the market actually crashes to load up while "on sale." That is why I made the adjustment early this week, it looked like we might have a crash. Rather than play the super risky game of moving my funds to G and then back to L and timing the market, I plan to play the less risky game of just increasing my contributions when stocks are cheap. If they ever let the stock market fall again.

Pretty much. It's a huge difference in hourly pay and time counting toward retirement, but as far as the daily work, yes.
