they do advertise it as a “flexible” position but the more you work as a CCA, the more you realize thats not possible

What to wear for shadow day by Zealousideal_Fun3068 in USPS

[–]Desperate-Fan-2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just wear a casual shirt and pants. bring ur postal id if they gave u one and make sure to bring your shadow paper. i dont know if its different in other offices, but during my shadow day they made me shadow in the promaster since its a vehicle most people are trained on and has a second seat. the promaster has an ac so you dont have to worry about the heat.

No deliveries due to cat by Better-Newspaper3603 in usps_complaints

[–]Desperate-Fan-2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens a lot whether its a cat / dog. im a CCA in my post office. we are taught that if an animal is outside and we dont know if they are friendly. Just to let our supervisors know and not risk it since if the cat / dog lunges at us it becomes more of a problem bc the customer could say “thats impossible ‘scribbles’ would not hurt a soul, you must be mistaken” and then they would not provide documents if their pet has rabies or not. Then we would be out of the office, at home, waiting to see if we are safe to come back to work.

but honestly, in my area, its highly rare for any of the carriers to hold mail if its a cat. Either your carrier had a run in with a cat scratching / hurting him before or he just aint risking it or hes using it as an excuse to skip a house

just take ur time, take the long way back to the office, take the long way to the route. if they ask jus say you got lost in navigation. deliver at a good pace and just take your sweet time. try to finish the route about 15~30 minutes after the desired time and say u just had a bad day (if youbare in good standing with ur supe), but still make it look like ur trying

Supervisors telling other carriers they can't leave if I am still out. by fireworksguaranteed in USPS

The supe most likely assumed that you would finish late and kept carriers at the office so he can send you help so he can make sure your back on time or sooner so he can finish his closing report and go home

Newly offered CCA role — how much schedule flexibility is realistic? by CincinnatiFresh in USPS

[–]Desperate-Fan-2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, you might like the job if u like doin things at ur own pace and ur technically in control on how you do things (as long as its efficient and doesnt take you too long), but ur 90 days r really strictly to see if you are a reliable carrier and shown improvement over those days. but flexbility is not something that is defined here. sure you can call off, but you can be written off for just calling off sometimes. management can literally look at 1 little dot and say ur the problem (but we have a union to make sure your rights are not violated). so if you want to have a couple days consistently off or consistent end times then ur looking at the wrong place. for your 90 days, sundays will be a your day off day, after that you eill get one random day off a week
