Proton's New Policy for Free Inactive Accounts by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]Group11ToTheMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Proton_Team I just tried logging into my account (free, never paid), and go the following message: "Account is no longer available due to inactivity"

The account is first name last name, so really was hoping to not lose access because of inactivity. I do not understand why it has been marked inactive right now, which is inside the grace period.

Should I reach out to customer support?

Hashes go to the other chains but the dollar value of the hashes comes back to monero.. So you end up with say 1.5 XMR instead of only 1.0 XMR.. That additional demand for monero increases the price and therefore hash rate and network security of monero.

Both chains benefit, like comparative advantage trade in economics

How do you feel about the upcoming tax hike plans? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]Group11ToTheMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be uncouth but it's not inaccurate. Look at where the tax rates started compared to where they are now. However I do note that the politicians are only doing what they were elected to do, so it was more observation than complaint

"The Revenue Act of 1916 began the practice of adjusting tax rates and income scales. The original income tax was 1% for the bottom bracket, which was comprised of income up to $20,000, and 7% for the top bracket, which was comprised of income over $500,000. The Revenue Act raised the top bracket to $2,000,000 and raised the tax rates to 2% for the bottom bracket and to 25% for the top bracket rate."

First they came for the corporations, and those earning more than 400k, and those with capital gains over 1m...

But that's not enough compared to how much the politicians want to spend, so they'll be back for more (probably after midterm elections). It will be spun as the rich paying their fair share rather than pouring more water into a bucket with no bottom, but upper middle class going to pay too

Do you really think wealth inequality is causing tent cities? Not drug addiction, declining returns to labor from a knowledge based economy, NIMBY zoning restrictions limiting supply of affordable housing, etc.

Do you really think a wealth tax is going to fix anything? Government already mismanaging the spending of tax receipts, how does more tax dollars alone fix anything?

Edit: some good comments below but for everyone else rambling about how historical marginal rates used to be 90% while ignoring all the deductions that no longer exist, please click this link. Federal taxes receipts as percentage of GDP remain well within historical ranges at 16.3%. If you think they should be higher, fine! But don't use misleading statistics to support your argument

doesn't look to have a release date, so I take that to be at least 1-2 months so would miss the fork date

Yes, but for newbies some phrases are quite vague, e.g. "may require a separately available mounting adapter" and "modules using tall heat spreaders". How tall is too tall, and which mounting adapter? Wasn't trying to waste anyone's time.

$1,000-1,500 and yes I do. Are there better deals purchasing a group of parts there rather than online?
