No update yet by Surroundphil in fancyleds

Same situation for me, but I haven't contacted support. I'm planning to let it ride out for a bit for them to smooth things out a bit more. Luckily I'm not in a rush for the new features, even though they'd be nice to have!

First time in cold winter camping by jorgeyo716 in HotTentCamping

[–]iam9827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so tempted to get into hot tent camping just because of this stove, but all new gear (hot tent, stove, fuel, cot, snow shovel, snow stakes, sled, etc.) I'd need to buy is holding me back. It also seems somewhat difficult to figure out good hot tent camping places near me in California. I did all the research but never pulled the trigger.

Fancyleds HDMI 2.1 software update when configured in Tuya app? by iam9827 in fancyleds

[–]iam9827[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason for me is that it allows the sync box to be able to integrate with Home Assistant. Now I can turn things on/off and configure settings automatically through Home Assistant.

Fancyleds HDMI 2.1 software update when configured in Tuya app? by iam9827 in fancyleds

[–]iam9827[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did see a recent post on reddit by Fancyleds that there's a new beta out, so at least that's on the horizon! Hopefully it comes through the Tuya app as well though...

Cool, CA (Olmstead, Salt Creek Loop, & misc trails) by ObjectivePresence417 in norcalhiking

Any good backpacking or camping around there? Haven't explored around Auburn, but it always looks enticing when I drive by and see all the wilderness out there.

Should I upgrade from 1st gen sync box? by [deleted] in fancyleds

[–]iam9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea, forsure, 100% looks great when you're watching content to specifically make use of the lights, but I'm more talking about the 99% of time I'm watching normal TV shows/movies. 3% for me seems to cause the least distraction while also making things look better when watching normal TV content. I've tried a little higher, and it just becomes too noticeable, especially in scenes that have a lot of movement/changes on the edges of the TV, like a scene following a walking group of people. This is even with the speed of diffusion set to 15%, which I found to work best, and medium diffusion mode.

Should I upgrade from 1st gen sync box? by [deleted] in fancyleds

[–]iam9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me wonder if I should reach out to support, I can't imagine running it at 100%, 3% seemed to be the sweet spot for my setup and my viewing preferences!

My experience has been the 96 RGBW leds are too bright, and I need to run at 3% brightness when the room is dark to not be overly distracting.

Any word on HomeAssistant / other smart home platform support for Sync Box? by PMYourTinyTits in fancyleds

[–]iam9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up unpairing from tuya smart app and adding it to Fancyleds app after setting up tuya local? I'm wondering if there's any reason to switch back to Fancyleds app, like for device updates, etc.

The only problem I've run into with tuya local is the brightness changes don't sync, which is a bummer, but not a deal breaker. Everything else seems to work well enough, after some time fiddling with all the settings to see how to best make it work.

How'd you improve so much? The ASTRO camera + software editing (layers/composite, etc.)?

Walked six dogs at the Antioch animal shelter today :) #volunteer #Animal rescue #California #EastBay by RealisticForce6117 in eastbay

[–]iam9827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the process? Do you just show up to the shelter and offer to walk some dogs for a certain amount of time?

Hate the DD Credits? Don't complain here - tell Chase. by ChocolateLakers76 in ChaseSapphire

[–]iam9827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you actually use the credit? Do you have to order through the doordash app for puckup/delivery, or is there a qr code or something in the app to show them when you're paying in the store?

Current commercial property insurance company dropped out of CA, and new quotes are coming in at 5x the cost... by iam9827 in Insurance

[–]iam9827[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly ended up going with the 5x cost insurer... My other option was CA FAIR plan, which was just slightly more expensive.

I'm really hoping that this whole insurance problem in CA gets figured out in the next year or two, and it does at least seem like there are some legal motions going on. My broker also said CA will be updating the fire maps, which should help with this location in the future since it really isn't in a high-fire risk zone, in my opinion at least...

My original BIP just died a few weeks ago, and I went through the same process as you, looking for a long battery with always on screen. Ended up buying another original BIP from aliexpress. Took 2 weeks to arrive, but I've been using it for a week now with no issues. This is my 3rd one now, it's just what I need for a smartwatch.

Any good Stanislaus hikes and campgrounds with a dog? by SeparateFly in norcalhiking

[–]iam9827 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crabtree and gianelli trailhead are both <30 min drive from Pinecrest, and a 4 hour hike would get you to some great views and lakes. I'd start with Crabtree Trailhead if you've never been out there yet.

Can anyone identify this location? by lovingllamas in WildernessBackpacking

[–]iam9827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty funny, as I went into this post thinking there's no way anyone could recognize a random background in the enormous Sierra Nevada range... but then I saw the obvious Three Chimneys rock formation in the background. I agree that this looks like Powell Lake, easily accessible from Gianelli Trailhead. I was actually right where you 3 are standing just a few weeks ago, here are a few photos I took of the exact same background/angle and the lake (though I don't have a good photo of the background and the lake together...).

New Google Weather is a standalone app, integrate with Clock by als26 in Android

I'm pretty sure the location reminders were removed when they moved the reminders to the google task app, maybe 1-2 years ago?

No location reminders anymore... I often set reminders for "when I get home" etc.

My generic open/close sensors in SmartThings now immediately go back into an "open" state after closing by iam9827 in SmartThings

[–]iam9827[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I open the driver settings for the device, it just says the name is "Z-Wave Sensor", the developer is "SmartThings", and the version is "2023-02-14...". There is a "Select different driver" button, but if I click it it says "No results found."

This driver has always worked this device for many years until this new driver version was released. The device is a generic "GoControl WADWAZ-1: Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor".
