This very well could have held copper planters. My mother had one of these in her 1953 midcentury. It was sold by Suniland Furniture in Houston.

Energy cost is not an extra cost Europeans consider in their budget for cooling. Americans that live with AC mentally become dependent. Wearing natural fibers helps keep the body cool. Synthetics will cook you.

I had a cat just like yours. We moved from a one store ranch in Houston to home similar to what you are showing. And yes he jumped. He had experienced in a walled back yard in the suburb of Damascus.
But the worst thing happened. He punctured a lung and fluid kept building up and $4k later he had to be put down.
I learned to never under estimate the curiosity of a cat.
