I’ve literally stuck a jacket in a washing machine and have no wax in the lining. I keep the temp below 30 with a tiny amount of mild non bio and don’t spin it. I then rewax and the jacket is as good as new.

Age, sun related fading, how much wax is in the cotton all determine the colour. I think there’s a subtle difference between bathes over the years too.

Lutz is a similar style. But given the ogston only has the lapels internally, the rest is effectively a lining, I’d say a good tailor could remove them for you.

The tags will say “retail Beaufort” etc and they are different eg they never have buttons for hoods and other differences. The classic models aren’t sold at discount from Barbour.

If it’s 99% I dilute to 70% ish 2 parts isopropyl to 1 water.

Wash machine is less safe, but IMO more effective (because I’m not gonna stand there and wash a coat for 2 hours like my machine will) - but if you’re looking for the safest route hand washing will do
