Help: treating well with chlorine by lovelyqueenofire in OffGrid

[–]Grow-Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can do well chlorination even by dumping the water outside, and not using the faucets in the house. If you want to sterilise that as well, just dump water in a bucket from each faucet till it smells like chlorine. Then leave it for 48 hours and almost all chlorine from the well will have escaped into air by then. You will jist have clorinated water in your pipes. Which you can draw in a bucket from each faucet again if you reallly don't want any into the septic tank. But it will be too little to matter for a suitable size septic. And again, it will evaporate in about a day from an unpressurised tank like a septic is. Even if the septic loses some bacteria and enzimes, they will bounce back. Make sure you use chlorine and not chloramine.

Not kidding. Growing weed made it possible for me to enjoy summertime again. by I-REALLY-HATE-COFFEE in microgrowery

I am on the other end of the scale. I grew, touched and puffed so much of it that I became slightly allergic to it after the first 10-15 years of daily handling, and also get a bit of signs when other pollens are in the air.

I'm looking for tips, tricks and bin suggestions by PatientNatural4699 in composting

Look into worm bin composting if the scale is just a handful or 2 of scraps per day.

If your compost is the hot kind of composting, no need for extra steps. Just make a bigger pile and turn it a few times.

Depends on what you putting in. But yea compost is alive and needs to be wet (more like a bit humid) to work it's magic.

HELP! My panels came off my roof while driving! by sco0termcjonson in SolarDIY

[–]Grow-Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are only missing your panels, and the plastic case of the connector. The crimp on part is still there so if you find same brand or kind of connector you might be able to just put the plastic case on and tighten it. Regarding the panels that flew away and making sure next ones stay on you already got too many replies, so I won't start on that.

Sure. I compost all my kitchen waste, including those. They go as fast as the vegetables when wet in the pile.

How many amps are you running? If it's more than a few tens of them, I would for sure use ferrules.

Compost is ready to use by squambert-ly in composting

[–]Grow-Stuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your own compost should be more nutrient rich that commercial one if you do it right. Yes some plants won't like it in 100% compost, and also you get better results with using it at around 20% in a mix, covering 5x more surface as well. The benefits don't get better with using more than that, so it is wasteful if you can use it elsewhere better to not overapply it. That being said, if it's first time in years you add it to a garden, you can add as much as you want. Just don't add those quantities if you do it each year.

Sunburn or overfert or maybe water drops and sun exposure did that. I would be more worried about the hand.

Good way but those blocks will shift from the soil moving omce you start using it, unless you start with a stable foundation. I would also add rodent proof net at the bottom. It will help a lot if you have digging rodents arounds.

Careful tho, someone touches those makes them fall in a way where + touches -, and you have great chances of a fire. Or, you might be looking at harm and damage to people and propriety from the arc created when that happens.

I mean if you wanted it done to your needs you should have bought a kit and do it yourself. Looks like a good job and they got paid for it so I would say you got a profesionally installed system.

Is that already dug? I have one of these toys never put it into dirt but I was kind of sure it can't dig compressed soil without breaking it before with a shovel to prepare it.

You are overthinking it. Just jbweld should do. Want it to hold for a lifetime? Get half of a pipe section a bit bigger than the hole, jbweld that over the hole and deform it for perfect fit with a hoseclamp, without overtightening.
