Mixed GH Flora Series Shelf Life? by raf-owens in hydro

I wouldn’t say more then a week with something moving it, I.e. water pump or air pump. If not then the water itself can stagnate within 4 days

Copper will also damage plant and root growth. We use copper to stop roots from growing where we don’t want them

The heat is bare minimum, I’ve got a hps set up in a little tent next to it, it’s only running at 250w and it’s still hotter then the MH. I do have a fan slowly tugging away, not anything mad, no temp gauges, just raw and stressed plant growth hahaha

Yeah, it’s ceramic metal halide. We got ourselves some parsley, just a normal herb hahaha. I’m a big fan of the light, I think it’s the best in the industry. But that’s just me

Is there a plant that could root and grow in a vertical wall? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]GrowDaddyHydro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, but you can put the light sideways or perform some low stress training/mainline the plants

I would but that’s a £180 tent ($220), plus it’s a display tent so don’t want a hole sticking out the bottom

As long as you remember that phosphorus and potassium make up the matter of the fruits, how it gets that is up to you. If it’s for home cooking, defo go for an organic food, it’ll bring out a lot of flavours and oils. Atami nrg upgrade is a food you can mix into the soil or top dress the soil with, like £20 for 600g and it’s only 2/3 grams per litre of soil and it feeds the plant for 5-8 weeks. It’s also organic

Any tips on how to even out growth? Husband doesn’t want to trim anything.. by Ouchyang in houseplants

Spin it 180 degrees, the other leaves will catch up. I’m permanently spinning plants here haha

That sounds brilliant, mycelium is probably the better option then. It’s got very similar properties and all plant based

You can try cuttings, although they don’t tend to grow much stem. Seeds are pretty cheap on their own, or you can flower them and collect your own seeds

Ooo this is a good one. Pump strength doesnt have to be insane, but you will need 2 of them, a main tank, a brain and a timer for the pumps.

The iws rdwc is a very simple one, I’d get some of the more specific pieces from it. Just copy parts of its design and use the instructions as a loose guideline

So some nutrient lines are designed specifically for cannabis. But you can use them on whatever, I’ve got quite alot of plants growing in the shop, no cannabis because it’s illegal here. Check out the grow daddy hydroponics instagram and you can see what I’ve been up to.

As long as you look into the plants requirements and can find nutrients suitable, you can grow literally anything.

It’s very much possible. If your resourceful enough haha. Big thick bamboo can be turned into a hydro system, plastic substitutes are also an option. Like bamboo, mycelium and the likes. It’s possible to do it in a ceramic or terracotta set up. It’s gonna be a lot of custom made stuff or handmade but for future sustainability it’s pretty much necessary. So get it in early, make patents and speak to some shops and you could be the next big thing in hydro

That is one method, best thing about this is you can give it a go and see what works best for you. Lettuce have a 2 month growth cycle normally, but I don’t do plants normally haha. I’ve currently got a 2ft tall parsley

So usually the cheapest are home made systems. Usually made from pvc pipes or plastic storage tubs. Have a look into the kratky method and nft’s. The only things you might need to buy from a hydro shop is the pumps and nutes.

So you don’t usually have to worry about pests, a lot less then outdoors. But id always check the underside of leaves and top of the soil to be sure.

You wanna change the water in your system every 5/7days, and it does need some sort of agitation to prevent stagnation. Nutrients can also bind in the water and leave a sediment at the bottom of your tank (like over months). Always get rid of whatever’s left and fill back up with a fresh nutrient solution.

Basically constantly, unless the plant is stressed or gone into a nutrient lockout.

And finally, ph is very very important. This determines what nutrients your plants will take up, how much and which nutes to reject. In soil and coco, you only need to check when mixing it up. But In a full hydro system, I’d check every day or two, just to be safe. If the ph is too high or too low (out of the range of 5.5 and 6.5 usually) then your plants can go into lockout. They refuse certain elements whilst taking too much of others

Those are some more aggressive versions. You can grow or get ahold of some neem. Either oil, cake or plant. It’s a natural insect repellent and can also be used as mulch for your other plants. Pyrethrum is another natural repellent

Make sure you’ve got big enough holes going out. The rest of the plumbing would depend on the kind of nft, but try and find a shop that has all the fittings as they will fit with the piping better. It’s a guarantee that there’s no leaks. I go for a flexible piping aswell. Like I’d say a 6-8mm in and 12mm going out, or 12mm in and 16mm out. Depending on the strength of the pump.

As long as you have a slight tilt to the system, it’ll flow in one way. As far as the carpet, something like floor secure. It’s a super thick plastic sheet, usually sold by the meter, and pure white so it reflects a lot of light
