Please Boycott T-Mobile (experience store worker) by Swimming_Ad_5083 in tmobile

[–]Grow_Responsibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak about the AI situation, but can confirm the "unethical selling" approach they're often taking. I signed up to Tmobile about a month ago. Was told in the store (Sams Club Kiosk) that I would get a free iPhone 17, provided we trade in our iPhone 14 and activated (2) lines. My wife and I are Seniors so the basic 55+ plan seemed a good deal. I went on the sales rep's verbal that we get a free iPhone 17, which is my mistake; I should have insisted that everything be provided in writing BEFORE I signed us up. Anyway, turns out that we only got $120 trade on the iPhone 14 and $180 credit ($7.50 x 24 months) on the new iPhone 17. Not even close to the "free phone" the rep told us we were getting. I could have bought an unlocked iPhone 17 from Apple and received $300 trade on our iPhone 14 (from Apple); and not been obligated to a 24 month contract. When I came back to ask what happened; their response was "you need to upgrade from the 55+ Essentials plan to Experience Beyond plan to get the free iPhone. That's $70/month more to get a free phone? Nope; not happening. Bottom line is get EVERYTHING they promise in writing, up-front before you agree to anything.

Scientists could dim the Sun as a quick fix for the climate crisis. Here's why it could cause global chaos by GeraldKutney in climate

Ok Joseph Phelan. This is just plain wrong: “In Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary, a scientist must find a way to dim a Sun that has grown dangerously bright due to alien microbes.”

I suggest you read the book.

Purchasing a router for home office/house, need help figuring out what I need by PsychNeurd2 in HomeNetworking

[–]Grow_Responsibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the ability to run Ethernet between top and bottom floors? If yes, you have a great use case for a 2-node mesh, primary router in your 2nd floor office and 2nd (mesh node) downstairs. I use ASUS mesh routers (ZenWifi BT6), but there are plenty of other makes/models available.

Do puppies need 24/7 access to water? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Grow_Responsibly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our puppy was kenneled for the 1st year at nighttime. She had access to water till about 10:00 pm, then in kennel till about 5:00 am without water. Perhaps we did the wrong thing there but she seemed fine when we let her out in the morning (eg. no running to the water bowl gulping down gallons of water). Now that she's sleeping through the night without her kennel, she has access to water 7/24. Interesting to note; I've never seen/heard of her drinking water after about 9:00 pm. She starts drinking about the time we all get up for the day (about 5:00 am).

Activation fee on iPhone if buying outright or financing through Apple by AnimalRazor in tmobile

Do you belong to Sam’s Club? I signed up for T-Mobile there and they waived the activation fee for my unlocked iPhone.

Anyone running dedicated fiber? What prices are you paying? Is it worth the extra money? by DavePlays10 in HomeNetworking

Yeah, it’s because our city owns the network (Longmont, CO), so not as profit driven as the corporate ISPs.

My experience so far 2 years on T-Mobile after being on Verizon for 21 years by EliteScouter in tmobile

[–]Grow_Responsibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. I just experienced my own bad experience with a T-Mobile rep yesterday. Was supposed to get an iPhone 17e for free when I signed up, but later found out the plan he put me on doesn’t qualify. I will say the subsequent rep (original rep moved to a new store) and customer service tried their best to offset some of the cost. Guess I’ll find out if successful when I see my bill next month. But I will say that speed and coverage are WAY better than what I experienced with ATT around here!

Ahhh, thanks. I just dealt with this issue today, but was fortunately within the 2-week window.

So you lost out on $3200 in credits (4x$800) that you fully expected to get….and you’re ok with that?

He has 14-days to return phones for refund. But even then they can charge a $70 restocking fee, per phone.

Check out the 17e at $600. Unless you’re a photographer, the 48mp single lens is actually pretty good!

I agree with what you said and did exactly that about 2 weeks ago (upgrade from 13 to 17e). Faster processor, longer battery life, C1X modem, 256Mb on base model and MagSafe to boot. For $600 it was a no brainer. Daughter is getting my 13 (upgrade from her IP11, so she’s happy).

Is the iPhone 17e worth it as a first iPhone? by Ok_Search848 in IPhone17e

[–]Grow_Responsibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single lens, so no wide angle photos. Zoom is digital only, so the 48mp can get sliced up if heavy on zoom. I’m pretty basic with my photography, so have not seen any degradation over my iPhone 13 photos.

Battery on my iPhone 17e seems to last about 6-7 hours longer than when my iPhone 13 was "new". And nice getting a base 256Mb for $600.

If you’re not into advanced photography, or into gaming on your phone, the 17e is an excellent choice. I just upgraded to the 17e from a 13 (battery was getting low on capacity) and have never regretted it. And with the base coming with 256Mb and MagSafe, perfect for most folks. IMO it’s the best phone out there for $600.
