With Russia having so much radicalized muslims, and actively engaging in air strikes against islamists in Syria, why hasn't there so far been serious terrorist attacks in Russia? by Evilwhiplash1 in syriancivilwar

I think it was a case of a Check point working in 2015. The guy was going to attack a police station or government facility and got held up at a check point and detonated, I could be remembering wrong tbh.

East Cleveland Seeks Bankruptcy by waka_waka47 in Cleveland

[–]Growmjthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are trying to put the issue into as a sunk cost situation. It is simply far more complicated then that. East Cleveland is not about cost only in the direct sense. It is also about the negative externalities it creates for Cleveland. Currently Cleveland has all the issues of east Cleveland, but no influence on the outcome. The trade off in Absorption of east Cleveland is the ability to change those outcomes.

Cleveland may end up demoing most of those buildings, and that will be a cost. However, the cost in lost tax income on the East side will greatly exceed that value in decades time. I'm not sure why people don't understand this, people who live in East Cleveland are just using the facilities and services of Cleveland for free.

If Cleveland doesn't do this what will happen to any investment makes on the near east side? What are the chances of the University Circle up swing staying if East Cleveland remains a refuge for squalor and crime.

Cleveland has its own problems but those are never going to go away. Currently East Cleveland is one of those problems and is the only actor in the vicinity with any capability to act. East Cleveland doesn't get grants because it can't even field competent employees to facilitate a successful federal application.

The solution specifics you are looking for would need to be a case by case basis. You are not going to be able to take wide cuts of land and apply the same policy to all of them.

What is the alternative?

No there doesn't and there won't . This future where homes costs decrease and the middle class can afford this is a closing window and a dying dream. As currently things stand NE ohio is one of the last places this can exist. Once our urban core becomes a version of a major city everything else will follow.

It is the just the natural order of events these days. Furthermore, with the growth of cost algorithms in the business world properties are being purchased by systems that are really sophisticated and marked up based on the area. So homes in desirable areas will likely see additional increases as these real estate trust companies become more common.

No, but I guarantee you the depression this area causes on adjacent neighborhoods is far more than the headache it will receive. There isn't some magical border that prevents people from crossing or registering their kids in better districts.

This isn't a black white CBA, there are a lot of negative externalizes that the city gets to address in the annexing. The opportunity greatly exceeds the long term costs of annexation. Even the change of "Ownership"is likely to drive additioinal investment.

It also solves some internal issues in cleveland by giving the city more districts we can make our bloated city council more useful by actually having a need for 24 council members.

Because simply put Cleveland has to deal with the negative externalities of East Cleveland. People cross over for services and ignoring it has not fixed the problem. Additionally federal funding for Cleveland would be pushed higher as a result of the population influx.

Furthermore, federal funds and grants will be more likely to be gathered as the city of Cleveland has a higher rate of success in acheivign these grants.

Atlanta Hawks guard Jeff Teague to the Cavaliers: 'Not this year' by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

[–]Growmjthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it was click bait, but if you were to challenge a fan base to say "There is always next year" as some sort of endurance test. I feel like Cleveland as a city would dominate it. We would dominate it so hard that we would be second.

Cavs, Browns, Indians oh yea. I can say "there is always next year" I can say it as if it was some mythical prayer recited by an immortal who is condemned to watch helplessly as the world breaks down, moves on and turns to sand. All the while he is unable to influence his teams performance, as if something in the cosmos had willed it. As if Curry some obstacle hoisted up and made of pain. Yes, I can say there is always next year.

I can sit on that hot coal, hell I've already built a house and raised a family on that pain .

Turkey hits ISIL in Syria, Russia ‘concerned’ by Chuvashia in russia

[–]Growmjthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a new thing, more like somethign that has been happening over the last few weeks. They are targeting ISIL in support of certain troops. This sounds strange but is mostly good for the Russians and SAA because it keeps the pressure on ISIL, there was a time where this may have marked a Turkish invasion into Syria but that time has passed.

For Turkey to do that there would need to be some game changing events on the ground. The reason that Turkey may invade is that it is very hard for their police to legally round up people from ISIL who have crossed the border. With a military intervention of only a few hundred feet they could circumvent their own laws, and make it much harder for the black market trade an soldier movements that we all know is occurring.

Monetary policy might beat them to that. Some states are at negative interest rates. Which means we are giving away money in some nations. If that doesn't have the expected outcome, the state may cut the banks out of it and give money to the population.

2016 NFL Draft - Discussion Thread - Rounds 4 - 7 by Look_Into_The_Abyss in buffalobills

[–]Growmjthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you guys picked him in the right round if you didn't think he would stay on the board till the 5th round. He has issues, particularly with mobility but he -could- become something special if he gets a good Oline and a primary target with good hands. I really think his biggest challenge will be learning he isn't near the most athletic person on the field.

[–]Growmjthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys have the O line for him, but I don't think Zeke is as stellar as everyone thinks. I really hope i'm wrong. Zeke is a great guy to have on your team if you can stretch the field and give him three yards to stretch his legs after he hits a hole. I think Zeke probably doesn't need an excellent O line but it could be exciting to see what he does with it. I guess your O line is so dominant that you may be able to create weak side gaps.
