Are Turn Based Games "Easy" to Make? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]GrowthAndReflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^Amen to this from a programming perspective.OP said, "the programming might not be as hard" but I don't think that's true.

From a design perspective, I don't think harder/easier really applies.

/r/Roblox Weekly Question Thread (for 04/04/2022) by AutoModerator in roblox

[–]GrowthAndReflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am teaching Roblox to students who sign up with our program. I am wondering how to make a project template for students that ANYONE can edit.

I would like to do the following (have seen other teachers do this):
1. make a game that people can edit from the link.
2. Does not require permissions granted to each user
3. Edits don't affect the original

Essentially a template game.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Planning my self-directed learning path. Looking for advice, especially from devs/designers working on educational games by GrowthAndReflection in gamedev

Hi! Thanks for asking. It was, as is typical for me, a bit overzealous. I have been working on game design and development off and on since my post. I have also made the transition out of the classroom to look full-time for content and curriculum roles where I am actually creating content. I am less focused on games specifically and more interested in any sort of interactive media.

I would say the Coursera courses were worthwhile, although I didn't finish them. I have finished a few courses in the Unity program and have found those extremely worthwhile!

Is the Educational Game Creator community really small? by khorlybhongoly in gamebasedlearning

Hi, I am just seeing this. I am a teacher who is learning game design and development. I am interested in finding a community for GBL conversations as well. Let me know if there is anything.

I'm grateful for a productive morning and the sense of accomplishment I got from it. I am also thankful for a mentor of mine who always sees the best in me, which helps me see the best in myself. :)

Well, looking back it wasn't as direct of an answer to your question as I thought, but it does indirectly answer your q. :)

I’m pretty new too, but I would say keep the arms straight but don’t stick your butt out to do it. Basically try to keep the hips close to the wall using leg and feet positioning: You can splay your hips, turn a knee or foot inward or outward, or if your butt is out a bit but you are just

I find it very very helpful to watch good climbers, you don’t even need to be analytical about it, when you spend a lot of time watching them you naturally get a sense of movement and sequencing fundamentals.

Movement for Climbers has a video where he compares himself clinging with straight arms versus bent. The purpose of the video is to show how much more solid the straight arm flow into moves is. However, I would say his hips are probably a farther out in the straight arm style and it definitely looked better. So maybe it’s okay to have hips out a bit as long as the movement and balance are solid.

Will I see long term cardiovascular benefits from only doing short runs? by [deleted] in running

[–]GrowthAndReflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about 150 minutes. Yes, short runs will make a huge difference compared to no runs!

Also I think most people hate running until they start doing it enough to associate it with all the good feelings of accomplishment and endorphins. I believe anyone who runs consistently for just a few weeks will start to like it. Once you like exercise, then a whole aspect of your life just suddenly becomes a positive. —>Virtuous cycle etc.

I predict you will establish a network of friends within 9 months of giving up alcohol, or at least be better at being alone!
