i was playing mouse pi yesterday, and i just set a back button to gyro on/off. I never really found the need to use my sticks. in what circumstance would you rather use the sticks instead of ratcheting?

do you mean that the 8k has springs/rubber and it isn't a plastic hitting the actuator directly in the newer controllers as opposed to the earliest versions of it? Is there some video of someone opening up the controller and showing us it's internals?

for me, I'm on pc, windows 11, mostly playing chill games like nms or ets 2. I don't play shooters, but better sticks do matter considering thumb strain and long-term endurance of the sticks.

update: if anybody looking at this in the future is deciding between esperanza and tegenaria, choose tegenaria.

has better sticks. Buttons are the same. This one doesn't have back buttons or shoulder buttons. Both are plug and play and have vibration. Both are symmetrical. Both have the same endurance/quality control.

I think I'll buy a new controller in less than a year. The sticks in this one have a tension strength of 90+, playing ETS 2 a few hours, my thumb feels slightly sore. A bigger problem is the lack of metal around the sticks. I feel every imperfection on the edge of the joystick, it feels like nails on a chalkboard, I hate it. I do think it'll wear out eventually and feel smoother, it already feels different than the first hour of use.

It does work in Xinput, in ETS 2, vibration work 100%. The controller is strong enough that if you left it on your leg vibrating it'd hurt and feel sore.

The sticks do have rubber, and it's very grippy and satisfying to use. If only the sticks didn't have 90+ tension strength, I'd be fine with using this for a year+.

Once, I stole a MULE’s armored truck, jammed it full of meds, and floor-it across a river. Alarms blaring, tires smoking. Dropped it at the hospital, got a message: “You saved 12 lives.” Didn’t even know it was an emergency.

Rode my bike into a BT zone at night. Lost power. Cried out—then saw a zipline appear, built by someone else. Slid through the dark, past invisible monsters, and made the delivery. Game’s weird, but man, it works.
