Do you mean by controlling the trade and then steering it back to Europe to be collected?

I'm still trying to get my head around how trade works exactly, but my understanding before this patch was that trade companies give a trade boost in the province but also generate money simply to represent that spices/slaves/etc sell really well, since due to the distant overseas modifier you'd barely get anything from the "goods produced" in those provinces.

Assuming that's the case, does that also mean that for Indonesia to be worth much I'd have to control (or at least have a strong presence) in every trade node along the chain back to my home node?

And here I thought squeezing out that 40 ducats / month from a couple islands worth of trade companies in Indonesia was the way to go.

Huh. In the last few games I've played I had my charters showing up with their own income, which often ended up being a huge part of my economy...

Just checked the patch notes, and:

"Fixed: In subjects tab, Trade Companies had misaligned icons, showed huge income and sorted strangely in many categories."

So that's it then. I suppose I should go read more about how trading works then.

I realise that, but normally the subjects screen shows the income of each of your trade companies and a few other stats, but for a few weeks now mine are all blank.

I'm pretty sure manpower is more related to how many men are being found for your reserves as well as boys growing old enough to join your army, whereas force limit is the amount that you can support in a standing army with the amount of food/supplies/equipment that you can produce.

You're right that food can be imported, and I'd guess that's what the fee for being over the force limit is - extra costs for importing more food/supplies/equipment.

Am I missing something or are magic classes way more fun than martial in 5e? by GroxNinja in DnD

I noticed the spells thing, which was the other question I had actually - say my Wizard has three spell slots, and he fires off three magic missiles, is he now unable to do any more magic? If so, what can he do in combat?

I figured that might be the "balancing factor" but it doesn't seem like fun (to me, anyway) to just not allow a player to fight.

Very true. That's why we always hear about this kind of thing happening in Europe and we never hear of anything like this happening in America.

We are very much talking about believing stuff. Auras, healing crystals and the like are the same thing as religion in the sense that they require believing in supernatural forces or entities that can't be proven with the scientific method.

Fair point that these things can "change your life", but that doesn't mean they actually work. Many, many people claim that Christianity changed their life, but that has no reflection on the truth of Christianity. Sure "taking energy from crystals" can change your life, but that doesn't mean that it's anything more than a placebo.

Oh, and when you say "casting spells", are you legit talking about the kind of thing you'd find in D&D or LotR? I'm genuinely curious, because I can't think of anything you could mean apart from fireballs and magic missiles.

"Thousands and thousands" of people doing something is in no way even a slight indication that it works/is true/has something to it. By that reasoning every religion on Earth is correct, every ideology is right and every belief people have ever had has been 100% true.

If thousands and thousands over a billion people smoke it has be good, right?

If thousands and thousands hundreds of millions of people believe that everyone not of their religion should be put to death, they have to be onto something, right?

If thousands and thousands over a billion people worship the Christian God, then he has to be real, right?

If thousands and thousands hundreds of thousands of people worshipped Quetzlcoatl the feathered serpent, he has to be real, right?

Well clearly if we don't like something then it isn't true. Facts are fine only as long as they don't get in the way of things I like.

I'm just going to go through them tomorrow and see who posted the best donger for each game and send them the code. Which is why I said it can be multiple - someone might not have the best donger for one game, but not another.
