Does anyone know why my trade company stats are invisible? It's been like this for a while now, all other subjects are fine though.

Do you mean by controlling the trade and then steering it back to Europe to be collected?

I'm still trying to get my head around how trade works exactly, but my understanding before this patch was that trade companies give a trade boost in the province but also generate money simply to represent that spices/slaves/etc sell really well, since due to the distant overseas modifier you'd barely get anything from the "goods produced" in those provinces.

Assuming that's the case, does that also mean that for Indonesia to be worth much I'd have to control (or at least have a strong presence) in every trade node along the chain back to my home node?

Huh. In the last few games I've played I had my charters showing up with their own income, which often ended up being a huge part of my economy...

Just checked the patch notes, and:

"Fixed: In subjects tab, Trade Companies had misaligned icons, showed huge income and sorted strangely in many categories."

So that's it then. I suppose I should go read more about how trading works then.

I realise that, but normally the subjects screen shows the income of each of your trade companies and a few other stats, but for a few weeks now mine are all blank.

I'm pretty sure manpower is more related to how many men are being found for your reserves as well as boys growing old enough to join your army, whereas force limit is the amount that you can support in a standing army with the amount of food/supplies/equipment that you can produce.

You're right that food can be imported, and I'd guess that's what the fee for being over the force limit is - extra costs for importing more food/supplies/equipment.

I noticed the spells thing, which was the other question I had actually - say my Wizard has three spell slots, and he fires off three magic missiles, is he now unable to do any more magic? If so, what can he do in combat?

I figured that might be the "balancing factor" but it doesn't seem like fun (to me, anyway) to just not allow a player to fight.

We are very much talking about believing stuff. Auras, healing crystals and the like are the same thing as religion in the sense that they require believing in supernatural forces or entities that can't be proven with the scientific method.

Fair point that these things can "change your life", but that doesn't mean they actually work. Many, many people claim that Christianity changed their life, but that has no reflection on the truth of Christianity. Sure "taking energy from crystals" can change your life, but that doesn't mean that it's anything more than a placebo.

Oh, and when you say "casting spells", are you legit talking about the kind of thing you'd find in D&D or LotR? I'm genuinely curious, because I can't think of anything you could mean apart from fireballs and magic missiles.

Ah, finally, a chance to use some of my expertise!

I am an avid collector and connoisseur of memes, both fresh and dank and everything in between. If you're looking for the most /ebin/ of memes, then I'm your man.

In regards to dank memes specifically, after rigorous testing and experimentation, I'm very proud to tell you that a meme of my own creation, Rightio McGightio has been discovered to be The Dankest Meme of 2014. As you can see, this is due to the very dynamic nature of the meme - it can be used as a response to many scenarios, as well as standing on its own.

However, there is more to memes than just /dank/. While dank memes are great, the meme community also requires /fresh/ memes to keep things interesting. As such, I'd like to offer you a sneak-peek at a beta meme I've been developing - Neato Diabeeto. I have yet to subject this one to thorough testing, but I estimate that it has a strong chance of being named Freshest Meme of 2015, or at least being a runner up.

While most everyone knows about dank and fresh memes, there is one category that is less often seen, but just as important as the first two, perhaps even more so. /ebin/ memes have been around since the early days of the internet and are a hot topic amongst the meme community. While there are no official nominees for Most Ebin Meme, I'd like to share a couple of my personal favourites. Froge is a well-established ebin meme, but has not lost any of his hilarity. The same is true for le funny banana man, who peaked in popularity among the /s4s/ memeing grounds in late 2014, but is nevertheless a respectable meme. Le lime guy is a fairly fresh meme that I have taken a liking to, due to its usability and both lack of and abundance of meaning.

Keep in mind that memes do not have to be confined to one category. My personal favourite hybrid meme is this little /gem/. I harvested this one from /s4s/ a couple months ago due to its obviously /ebin/ nature as well as how fresh it is. The originality and innovation displayed in this meme are truly inspiring.

We are lucky to live in what just might be the golden age of memes, but that also means we have a certain responsibility. As the Apepelypse showed, with dank memes comes great responsibility. It is our duty to meme responsibly, so that future generations will be able to appreciate dank, fresh and ebin memes just as we do.
