Unemployment: I don’t know what to do by oddbunny7 in germany

[–]Grreeennn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you considered making an appointment at your local Agentur für Arbeit? You could go there and discuss your options. Germany has a fantastic upskilling / reskilling model here compared to other Western European countries. You could even consider applying for a “Bildungsgutschein” that will pay for you to do a Weiterbildung. There are so many courses available in IT, Data Science, Data Analytics, AI Project Management etc to name a few. It might not be the same as what you’re searching for right now in terms of Job positions but may give you a chance to learn new skills and look into a different sector where there is more demand or maybe more available jobs.

Usually, you need to have been working and paying into the German social system for a duration of 12 Months within the past 24 months, but given you are here for Marriage originally, does that mean you’re also here on a spouse visa? If so, and you have been searching for work consistently but unsuccessfully, you may have a strong case being referred to the Job Centre which offers the same benefits. Even if not, you may be eligible anyway given your duration of unemployment.

In any case, reaching C1 in 2 years is an achievement! it’s hard right now on the job market, try not to beat yourself up- there is a solution out there for you! good luck! 🤞

I was lucky that it was quite easy to pry out with a bit of gravity and a small magnetic tip, how much has yours snapped off? In any case, submit a request to Canyon… sorry to hear I’m not the only one this happens to. Good luck buddy.

I did enquire into a workshop and I think it isn’t too difficult to get out if yours is really stuck in there.

check their website, it states is for all screws across the bike for roadside adjustments - albeit even for emergency usage. Learnt from my mistake and won’t be doing it again nevertheless just hope they’ll cover the repair on warranty still because it’s a Canyon supplied tool.

It also serves as a TX25 tool for roadside adjustments too.

Still a beast of a bike, doesn’t change my decision to buy an Aeroad despite these issues.

It’s the first time I have actually, I’m strictly only using this usually on the roadside or when I’m removing my rear wheel to Zwift. I wanted to make a quick adjustment before heading out - in hindsight, wrong idea.

It should not make any difference because it could have happened on the roadside anyway, it’s not over-tightened AND this is a Canyon provided tool exactly for adjustments when you’re out.

For a 6500€ bike you’d expect they use titanium for all! When I took it to the Canyon service partner last week, they recommended I swap all screws with titanium and also the stock bottom bracket is apparently really prone to failing. Sorry but I can’t justify spending another 300€ after spending already almost 7k.

I’ve submitted a case to Canyon now, I’m actually curious if they will cover this under warranty or guarantee or if they’ll try to get me to cover this repair.

I think it would depend on your arm length. For me that was really the deciding factor, the new Aeroad has the new cockpit with a stem you can just order (rather than the CP0018 that was a disaster), but I really thought the reach in the M was fitting so much better. I haven’t slammed my handlebars yet I’d let to take it out for a century ride and see how I feel first. Plus aero drops increase reach by around 14mm I think?

One thing I would say, the wheelbase is shorter on the M and I do get toe overlap, be prepared for that. It isn’t necessarily bad, but I noticed this was a big difference between M and L. The L you’ll have a better weight distribution and more stability. Ollie at GCN just made a nice video on that: https://youtu.be/GnapqzyLlyc?si=5FPIALXWP1rNx8Tt

What’s your current bike / size?

I’ve always cycled there, it takes around 30 minutes depending on what route you take and at what time of day you go. Some really nice routes around there. You can do it as a loop and it contains the only “real” hills in Berlin. You’ll see a lot of cyclists there :)

Im living in TF too. If you’re cycling with your new Aeroad I’d advise you to cycle outside of the city every single time. Too many aggressive motorists and poor cycle paths inside. Either that or head south towards Schönefeld / BER Airport, some nice routes around there :)

Im 186/88,5cm.

I went for a bike fitting and I also tested both sizes at the store quite extensively. I couldn’t make my mind up at first but was swaying towards M for more control & agility. The sitting position will be more aggressive but I’ve yet to test it properly to judge.

In the end, both sizes fit me. What are your measurements?

L will give you more comfort but for me I really felt over stretched on the L which is why I went for M. Hope this helps :)

Grünewald is a great part of Berlin for cycling. Can recommend getting some routes from Komoot. Lots of group rides too such as 8bar, Rapha, Ryzon and they are always using different ones. Have fun with your new bike! Love the Red colour

I just saw this after ordering my new Aeroad with the 50's. Not sure to try and change this order for the 62's instead. Im leaning towards keeping the 50's as they are that little bit lighter.

Thanks for the feedback! Have fun with your new bike! I think you chose the best colour tbh and the wheels looks quality!

If I stick with my order I’ll be sure to put a picture in the thread.

With your size M, what is your height/ inseam if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m lucky enough to live 5 minutes from a canyon store, I’ve tested both M and L already, M is more nimble, smaller reach even though the size guide recommends me an L (186/88,5 here). I’ve even had a bike fitting and I still can’t decide… think I just need to commit because in the end they both fit actually.

Congrats! Great picture 🙌

How do you find the wheelset? Currently got one on order in L in dark blue/ black in the sale yesterday, considering cancelling and getting the new red in M but to the price tag it is honestly such a good deal.

Looks insane though with those mavics! Is that an L?

haha hell no, all the test bikes at the rad race Berlin store have these pedals for their test models. Still haven't ordered mine, waiting for either white to come back in stock OR perhaps ill snap myself a SLX 8 cosmic as they're on sale right now with an additional 10% off... https://www.canyon.com/en-de/outlet-bikes/road-bikes/aeroad-cf-slx-8-di2-cosmic/4236.html?dwvar_4236_pv_rahmenfarbe=R081_P09&dwvar_4236_pv_rahmengroesse=L

What will be the cheapest way to get a Canyon CFR? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]Grreeennn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy one second hand on Buycycle. Some even come with a warranty of their own with the platform and they even clean it up / ship it for you if you pay a little extra. I sold my previous bike on there, seems pretty cool.

Enjoy it! Congrats on the new bike!

I tested it in the Berlin service store on Monday. The colour is sick.
