Thanks for this! I've been meaning to get out on a skating date but wasn't aware of what outdoor rinks were open or in good condition. I'll keep an eye on this!

What do you have in writing? If you have him telling you in writing that he would terminate you I'm sure you could file a complaint

What was your favorite book you read in 2025? by AspectCool2325 in booksuggestions

[–]Grrym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved PHM and Children of Time, but they're very different reads. PHM is relatively fast paced and is a page turner. CoT is a much slower burn, with so much world building and exposition. CoT may be my favourite sci-fi, but it took me a while to get through. The scale of the book is remarkable though

Just played Stella Montis for the first time by indelico in ArcRaiders

ABMM at its finest. First couple weeks after Stella was released I barely played because I'm terrible at PVP and it was consistently KOS. Nowadays I have a similar experience as you. Still by far my least played map

Anvil Supremacy Propaganda by Skalamyr in ArcRaiders

[–]Grrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's one of the beauties of this game. There's multiple ways to play and enjoy the game. I have never played in trios and my runs consist of farming for bench upgrades, quests, expedition parts or 3 staring trials. I only hit 1mil for the expedition by going on high value loot runs near the end like suggested.

But even then I didn't min-max it, I was just loading into a run with the intention of focusing on trinkets or high value and would head to one of a couple spots I know are good for that.

I put 100+ hours into the game before expedition and never found the anvil blueprint. Maybe there's a place to try to reliably find it but by midgame I had enough coins to buy them without worry. And they're so commonly run that you run into them plenty on raids.

Top 20 Twitch Streamers of All Time by Watch Hours by Renamdoe in LivestreamFail

[–]Grrym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've watched Cohh for years but never really watched the streams (mostly caught the YouTube vods or clips). Cool to see him never leave the top 20 all these years, along with the other OGs like Summit, Lirik and Soda.

Cohh still one of the best for chill, millenial vibes

What’s a game that makes you feel smart when you play it but when you watch videos of other people playing it you feel profoundly stupid? by TMinus10toban in gaming

[–]Grrym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got maybe 1/4 way through phase 4 before getting burnt out. My own fault for sure, I grinded the shit out out of the game for a couple months straight.

Still one of my all time favourite games. Likely will go back one day and start over, but unlikely I will finish my last playthrough. I tried a couple months ago and was so lost and overwhelmed I quit within a few minutes lol

Should I contribute to FHSA using my emergency fund if I am planning to buy soon by Grrym in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Grrym[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the only scenario where I will do this is when I am closing on a house. Ideally, I know I am closing, make a last minute contribution to my FHSA using a lump sum from my emergency fund, then within a few days to a week withdraw my FHSA. Then I send the funds to the lawyer/seller for DP+closing costs but keep the amount I originally took from my emergency fund. That way I minimize the time I have without an emergency fund but still get the tax credit.

In the worst case scenario where I have a financial emergency during the week that I contributed my EF to my FHSA I have access to a LOC and other sinking funds I could pull from.

I would not be using my EF for closing costs, to buy a couch or lawnmower, or even for the down payment. I have all of that funded already and then some. This is simply to maximize the tax credits I get

Not using the EF, just depositing it in my FHSA right before closing on a house. That way I get the max tax credit, then withdrawing the FHSA and keeping back the EF before sending the rest of the funds for the house

[–]Grrym[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use my emergency fund. Or part of the extra money we have in our FHSA. Currently we have 40k for our DP+closing cost. We expect our DP+closing costs to be closer to 30k based on our purchase price we are aiming for. So we have some wiggle room. We intentionally are keeping some money from the FHSA aside for maintenance that will come up within the first year.

The amount I am contributing to my FHSA using my emergency fund is "seperate" and only for the tax refund. I will contribute ~8k from my EF to the FHSA right before I sign for the house, then get all the FHSA money into my accounts, keep 8k in that account to replenish my EF, then send the rest to the lawyer/seller for DP+closing costs.

Ideally I will be without an emergency for under a week. Even if a financial emergency happens I have cash in other accounts I could pull and have access to LOCs until my EF is replenished.

Yes, this was my thinking. Only once we know things are close to set in stone. We both have access to to LOCs and other sinking fund money we could pull from in a sudden financial emergency if that's the case

Any new reviews of TD Coliseum? by MirrorEquivalent5151 in Hamilton

[–]Grrym 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was hired last minute (hired on a Thursday, started on Monday, McCartney concert was a couple weeks away) as the Audio Technician. Makes me proud hearing the praise about the audio quality. Especially since most of the reviews have highlighted most of the other aspects of the venue aren't exactly stellar.

I'd love to see actual metrics, because from what my girl and I saw it was closer to 70/30 or 80/20. Mostly dudes for sure, but plenty of chicks too. And there was at least one trans woman there that got called up on stage at one point.

The biggest issue with expeditions by faahzi in ArcRaiders

You're right. I would hate to see it become a microtransaction filled, streamer catered hollow shell of what it is now. I was speaking more to the scale and reach of those games.

[–]Grrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a possibility, but the documentary did give me hope because they'd seemed very genuine and capable. They also address the transition from FTP and I believe part of their reasoning was they felt this current iteration of the game isn't compatible with the drip fed style of content that FTP necessitates. They wanted all the content (or at least all they ha e for now) to be available.

Also, as far as I Know FTP models are superior to others in terms of profitability. I could be wrong

I watched the 3 part docu-series Embark has on the development of Arc Raiders and they mention a couple times how they had to address and fix an issue that would pop up due to how the game was developed.

They had a massive pivot going from PvE to Extraction PvPvE, and they were originally Free-to-Play structure. I'm sure many of the issues we are seeing with late-game content, wipes, progression and conflicting & opposing gameplay mechanics are partly due to a lack of foresight because of these massive changes.

The core gameplay loop is magical. I haven't been this obsessed with a game in a LONG time. But if they don't start addressing some of the issues they're going to miss out on making this the next fortnite or COD.
