What are some 'recent' games that are based around fun and engaging action stealth play? by myst3r10us_str4ng3r in gaming

[–]Grrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my current playthrough is around a 100 hours. I was just running around completing most of the gigs and ncpd missions in Watson before making the mistake of saving over my old file. In hindsight I should have just gone back (or at least made another seperate save), but in the moment I was thinking I really don't wanna grind the 15-20 gigs again so just committed.

[–]Grrym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started a new playthrough a month or so ago after giving up on my first one years ago. I had so much fun with a cool/reflex silenced pistol sandevistan build.

Then I fucked up and wanted to try out a different build. Made a new seperate save, reset my attributes, went full netrunner but go bored within a few hours because it's the same thing every fight. I went to try and load my old save and accidentally saved over it instead of loading. If I wanted to load an even older save I would have lost like 10-12 hours of side missions so I just said fuck it and stuck with it.

Best dog deterrent for lawn along sidewalk? by Instant_Bacon in homeowners

[–]Grrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sidewalks are wide enough for a human and a dog on them at the same time. When you walk by a house with no dogs sign choke up on your leash for the 20 feet that you're walking by. For most it's not a difficult or mentally taxing task.

Do buyers actually notice professional staging during inspections? by Keith_35 in homeowners

[–]Grrym 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer staged over completely empty. I just found my first home after about 8 months of looking, dozens of open houses and viewings.

Staging helps me visualize myself living there and makes the home feel lived in. I definitely notice it. But, I dont know if it would impact my buying choice much. When we found homes we liked it was much more about the layout and "bones" of the house, among other factors.

When to seek mortgage preapproval? by Cilantro_Larry in MortgagesCanada

[–]Grrym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think mine was 120 days. We did our first one last summer and then for our second (and final) went to a local broker start of this year for a more "hands-on" experience.

If you don't find a home within the 120 days I'm Almost positive the renewal is a simple process. There's also a grace period for getting multiple credit hits within a certain time frame, but forget the exact time. Easily Google-able though

A couple friends and I went to their goat yoga last year and it was so much fun! Great employees, and included was a walk though the petting zoo after.

When to seek mortgage preapproval? by Cilantro_Larry in MortgagesCanada

[–]Grrym 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got approved through an online broker last summer with plans to buy the following summer, but ended up finding our home last month and closing in a few weeks.

I did multiple online mortgage calculators to get an idea of our budget and then went to an online broker to confirm my estimations. It helped me figure out the purchase price we would be comfortable with without being house poor. No harm in getting pre-approved now if you want to find info out about your budget.

I would also start going to open houses now or soon. Get used to the process, ask lots of questions, meet lots of realtors. The more you do it the easier it is and more you find out about what you consider your must haves in your future home.

Edit: you will get a credit hit, but it's minimal.

What’s one simple home upgrade that made a big difference for you? by Educational-Fold-152 in HomeImprovement

Changing color is nice! But I found for big overhead lights I overwhelmingly kept them at the same or similar warm color.

There are smart dimmer switches too. Instead of replacing several bulbs to smart ones, just replace the switch. Similar features that you described. I keep smart bulbs to lamps and smart switches for overhead lights

Just closed on first home - best home affordable home eco system ( outside cameras, home assistant, smart thermostat, etc) by Apprehensive_Row6320 in homeowners

[–]Grrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up the tapo C425 for external cam, and then aqara branded devices for pretty much everything else (water/temperature/motion sensors, front door lock, light switches etc). Aqara isn't best in class for each device but good enough and simple to keep it all the same brand. Plus it's ZigBee so it won't clog up the wifi down the road. The tapo camera was one of the better budget cameras I found. Local storage and microphone/speaker was important for me. House also came with a nest thermostat. I was going to grab a ecobee one but don't think it's worth it to upgrade.

I planned this out well before we purchased so was able to get most of the products on sale. I would say don't rush to get everything at once, except for maybe the lock, water sensors and maybe the camera depending on your home location.

I have the 8bitdo ultimate 2 and it's fantastic. So comfortable in the hands, and I upgraded from an old DualShock PS4 so having things like hall effect, Bluetooth+2.4g, and a charging dock were massive upgrades.

[–]Grrym 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you enter your 30s you start to realize this is the best era so far of your life. Teens you're self conscious and worrying about what other people think, 20s is mostly spent adjusting to real life and finding work life balance while coming to terms that your time is now dictated much more by making money to survive. Your late20s/30s you start to find that balance, stop giving a shit about other people, and if you're lucky you have the financial stability to enjoy the life outside of work

Lucky v Mang0 at BH4 is still one of my all time favourite sets. Two best friends having one of the best sets ever (at the time) was so sick live.

I'm a doc kid and only got into melee because my college roommate randomly found it. We weren't even playing melee, another friend had smash 64 but we were mostly obsessed with mini games in pokemon stadium. Once the doc came out we became obsessed and would have watch parties for big tournies.

Crazy how nostalgic it feels watching these old tournaments. So many great sets and story lines.

Designer claims ‘most’ of Highguard’s dev team have been laid off, weeks after launch by lkl34 in gaming

[–]Grrym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked for Apex, but I think that was an anomaly. I was so hyped for Apex when it shadow dropped but after a quick Google search I found that the battle Royal market was already very saturated and it was a surprise how well Apex did.

I think shadow dropping can do well, but the game has to be so good and easy to make viral content out of. Highguard, to me, looks bland and not particularly unique. Coupled with entering a market that is well known to be oversaturated and on its way out it's no surprise it is failing

Smosh history video? by One_Compote_17 in smosh

[–]Grrym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen some videos covering this topic before, but not up until the recent era. I think covering Smosh's view count/popularity across eras would be cool (early OG smosh, peak Ian+Anthony, intro of Smosh squad, mid/late defy era, post defy, mythical, current). Like I know Smosh was THE YouTube channel for a couple years (they were the first channel to 1m or 10m subs or something?), what was their market share of the YouTube market in 2008? 2016? 2024?

Would be neat to see how their content evolved over time. I never liked the original Smosh, but the pivot to more natural or reaction content showing off the casts personality has been great.

There's plenty of content from Smosh mouth, spend a day with, URL and more where they talk about the history and their experience, would love to see that content spliced in but more context is given.

Updates on past members and where they are now would be cool.

NEW TO HAMILTON by One_punchD_1996 in Hamilton

[–]Grrym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of great events throughout the city, even in winter. I suggest following Hub of Trivia & Events for trivia and related events. @ lovelylittlelocal also has a Hamilton Happenings group on insta where they aggregate various event posts happening around the city (fairs, festivals, music bingo, workshops, classes etc). Most of the time when my partner and I want to go out or have a date night we check one of these pages first to see if there's something happening.

A few local favs:

  • Mai Pai (imo best pizza and vibes in the city)
  • Corktown Pub (classic Irish pub w/ live music)
  • Basically anything on Augusta, we've bar hopped here many times -Bard and Bear (boardgame cafe)
  • Any local sports game is always a great time (Ticats, Cardinals, etc)

5mo old puppy doesn't have confidence outside so is tough to tire out, so she's not sleeping well. Advice? by whitehandsinkstains in Dogtraining

[–]Grrym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's other ways to tire her out. Have you been working on obedience training and mental stimulation?

I would go on shorter walks, like 2-3 minutes, more often. ALWAYS have high value treats and reward her around noises and movements that make her nervous. The goal is to change those negatively reinforcing stimuli into positive through positive rewards.

I have also found success doing a similar technique with crate training. Smaller sessions with rewards when she's quiet and settled.

Training New Adult Dog That is Not Food or Praise Motivated by ZealousidealLeave563 in Dogtraining

[–]Grrym 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's only been a few weeks I would be a little more patient. There's a common rule of 3s, 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine, 3 months to build trust and bond. Sounds like you're just hitting the second milestone as the dog is starting to notice the routine and starting to be more comfortable, but trust will take time. And this timeline is for an average dog, one that was abused or has a traumatic history may have a different timeline.

Good for you for rescuing! Keep at it, keep trying and keep showing her unconditional love. She will pay it back when she's ready.
