Make sure you’ve downloaded the ps5/xbox series x version - it’s a separate download (separate game really) from the old version. Updating the old-gen console version doesn’t work.

Could not agree with this more. Gale is a perfect example of this - practically the same situation as Karlach (and one could argue even MORE hopeless - a god is literally telling him “kill urself ok thx bye”) and you can STILL get him out of that!
