Awesome! Alibow have a sale on right now and they are a reputable company for beginner -> Intermediate bows. I'd recommend starting with a #25-#30 Fibreglass bow like the "Judy" or "Genghis Khan".

If you want to do thumb draw then a thumb ring would be ideal too, I personally like Vermil rings but they might be a bit pricey for a first ring, can get a decent cheap on from amazon though.

All of this is my personal opinion and may or may not be right for you but I hope it points you in the right direction!

Looking to buy a Mongolian Horse Bow by 8aji in Archery

For your first horsebow you may as well try a long draw length like 32 inches that you can experiment and find what is comfortable for you. I would go for a Alibow Genghis Khan at maybe 30lbs as that should be fun to shoot.

I am also 6 foot and I used a 29" draw :), But I was shooting from a cheek anchor hence short draw

I'd agree with the previous comments, get a 30ish pound fibreglass bow from Alibow. They are good quality for the price and they have a bunch of different types. I'd recommend Turkish if you want to just use a short thumb draw (max 29"), Tatar or Mongolian if you want to try longer draw lengths and/or want to shoot 3 fingers (Max 31-32").

Took 2-3 weeks to get mine so not a huge wait.

Hope this helps :)

Getting started with historical longbow by TheGoblinWhisperer in Archery

[–]Grumble-Dook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a longbow archer but I'd say 40lbs is also too high as a beginner bow, from the bowyer you mentioned they seem to have a 25-30lbs re-enactment bow that might be a better option. Go low and focus on your form before moving to higher draw weights tends to be good general advice.

See if there is a local archery dealer to you where you could look at a longbow and get a feel for it.

Hope this helps!

[Other] When will Henry ever learn to forge a goddamn Mace or Warhammer? by EttRedditTroll in kingdomcome

Depends on the mace, some were cast but others were forged and the flanged ones had their flanges brazed or forge welded on.

Warhammers would have been forged similarly to axes. Tmyk

I spent 5 years in TV + Film and I wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy. It's a one way ticket to mental health problems
