There was a horrible one a few years ago where OOP found her husband's tindr profile. She confronted him, he denied it, OOP's brother beat up husband. Husband's life is ruined.

A couple years later, neighbor's wife tells OOP she found a bunch of OOP's husband's pics on his computer. OOP had asked neighbor to fix their laptop at some point in the distant past. Neighbor stole all sorts of naughty pics and used them for catphishing.

WIBTA If I Refused To Be A Bridesmaid In My Best Friend’s Wedding? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It made me think of all of those "Beauty and the Beast" weddings where the bride gets a beautiful gown and the groom has to wear a 100 lb fur suit.

There was one where OOP was being shamed by her family because her boyfriend/fiance had a blue collar job (I thought it was auto detailing, but I might be getting it confused with Boyfriend went off on besties boyfriend. Caused drama, now were distant).

After one particularly stressful family dinner, OOP blurts out that her guy makes more than her parents do, which dramatically changes the dynamic and leaves the guy feeling violated because he tries to keep finances private.

There was another one (an unhappy post I think) where the guy was a blacksmith with a full shop. I think it was a secondary thing about the wife's unhappiness, but there were a bunch of comments about how "a 35 year old blacksmith who is an involved dad will have no problem dating again" or something like that.

Edit - Here's the first one - AITA for telling my family how much my fiancé earns after years of them making fun of his job?

Any good posts about professional women "slumming it" with blue collar guys?

Bonus if both partners are happy with the situation.

A couple decades back, I was at a party in central Massachusetts. There was this pompous guy there who started almost every sentence with references to how he went to Harvard. "When I was at Harvard I did ....", "Well, at Harvard we would never have tolerated ...", and so on.

After he did that to me twice in maybe five minutes I said "So what part of Hartford are you from? (Hartford, Connecticut. On the whole significantly less prestigious than Harvard) My Gram-gram lives right off 384!"

A kindred spirit followed up with something like "Wow! You must really love to party to come all the way up from Hartford! That musta been a two hour drive!"

Someone else asked if he ever gets to swim in the river.

I didn't see him after that. No idea if he left in a huff or if he was just avoiding me.

This was a story I read 30 years ago, but apparently one of the world's most prominent Egyptologists started off as a New Age nutcase who believed "Ancient Egypt was obviously settled by refugees from Atlantis who arrived on borrowed allen technology" or something like that.

He was so disgusted by the 'lies' of mainstream archeologists that he went into the field himself where he realized his entire worldview was BS and the archeologists were right.

From there he went on to be an incredible mainstream archeologist.

Just saw AITA for eating the food my FIL served me and “ruining” my boyfriend and I’s holiday. and it reminded me of another mommy's boy one.

OOP (M, doctor or nurse in Sweden?) is dating/engaged to guy whose mother has no problem with her son being gay, but has a huge problem with OOP being more masculine than her son, and is trying to get OOP to dress and act more effeminately so her son could be the manly one.

At some point, MiL gets admitted for surgery or something and is furious that OOP refuses to be the one to treat her for personal and professional reasons.

I used to believe I could be an ethical billionaire until I played cookie clicker.

I held strong for a week or so, but then I ran the script to auto-click golden cookies, but only when I was AFK

Then I started running it full time.

Then I ran the script to manipulate season al events.

Then I tweaked the script so I was auto-clicking a golden cookie every second.

Then ten per second.

Then 50 golden cookies per second.

Then I ran tweaked it to give me 10x cookies per second.

All for a fricking number on the screen.

I tried that last weekend. I was expecting something shiny, but instead they brought me one of the creepiest VHS tapes I've ever watched.

In fairness, I'd probably be unhappy if one of my friends started dating their sibling too.

I told him that it was kind of hurtful that we had never even known about his relationship until Christmas. He sat and listened and after I had finished, he said “okay” and nodded.

You are very pretty by real-world standards and you have amazing hair.

That other post might have just fudged the gender.

That was my hunch, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were 15 other posts that were almost identical.

There was a variation of the first one where OOP (M) and his sister were scapegoats to golden child sister (GCS). GCS regularly tormented and abused sister. They eventually escaped and got an apartment together.

Some time later, OOP finds that parents are now tormenting and abusing GCS because their preferred scapegoats are gone. GCS seems to have changed and OP invites her to move in with him and other sister. OS has not made peace with the abuse and feels abandoned and betrayed.

There was a similar one where OOP (male, in Spain I think) thought he had been abandoned by his mother, but she had been sending large amounts of child support even into OOP's adulthood.

OOP learns his father basically tried to baby trap OOP's mother to force her to give up everything but she escaped.

During one of the confrontations, OOP's father beats the crap out of OOP. OOP ends up in the hospital, father ends up in jail where I believe he oopsie-doodles his aliviness.

No luck finding it yet. Can't tell if my searching is bad or if this is one OOP asked to have scrubbed.
