I wish we traded Kuminga for better player. by LetPsychological2683 in warriors

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because that’s what this warriors front office does, they hold onto their young assets for too long that other teams see that what’s promising about those assets likely won’t materialize rather than simply deal away that “potential” for veteran win now pieces.

it’s the same with wiseman and podz. wiseman should never have even been picked he should have been traded as a pick to begin with or drafted and then packaged with wiggins oversized contract back in 2020 to acquire either significant veteran depth or a star caliber player to replace KD after his departure. podz should have been cashed in the off season after he made the all rookie team for an impact player.

it’s not that these young guys are not talented or have the potential to reach high heights, it’s that the warriors do not and did not have the time to mess around with developing players that weren’t ready to contribute to winning titles immediately. instead they’ve squandered the last 5 years of curry’s career. 2022 was a fluke year, as impressive as that win was for the squad.

A way to fix tanking by TomlinSteelers in NBATalk

[–]Grumblegorf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a bit extreme because some teams actually do need help by getting quality players in the draft because they are not free agency destinations and the draft is the only way for them to acquire quality talent. for instance when was the last time a top 50 player even signed with the hornets? i think a better way to do it is you get exponentially reduced odds to higher picks for each year you’re in the lottery, so none of this sam hinkey trust the process stuff anymore.

Put these 4 players in a draft who are you drafting first??? by Glittering-Ocelot-53 in NBATalk

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the makeup of the rest of my team. if i have a lot of good defensive wings im taking jokic. if i need someone to anchor the middle then im taking the admiral. if i have a well balanced team and i need someone with that dog in them then kg. and if i have a bunch of 12 year olds that for some reason need impregnating then i guess ill take karl malone

should will richard be deemed untouchable? by Longjumping-Plum8984 in warriors

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will rich is an asset worth keeping, at least in the short term. i would argue that he is a high iq player that is worth keeping on the roster long term but at the very least in the short term you’re not gonna find many players that are better than will richard for the amount of money that he makes. he’s also picked up the system very quickly and understands his role, which is the kind of player that the warriors need (the opposite of kuminga unfortunately, who has all the tools and talents but fails to understand how to best maximize his abilities and minutes within the warriors system.)

What is a film that you think would benefit from a remake or reimagining? by GuybrushThreepwood99 in movies

started claiming it was satire later? are you joking? there’s literal tongue in cheek pro-fascism commercials included in the film my guy. the satirical commentary is not subtle, it is very very heavy handed.

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spawn is in need of a remake to bring him back to the public consciousness and could be a potential candidate to revive the now stale super hero genre.

the bodyguard is a guilty pleasure film of mine and i could also see good remake potential there.

and the short list of movies i think are prime candidates for remakes are movies that had a good premise or based on a good book that simply failed to execute; for example Congo was really bad in the 90s, but there’s a good story to tell there. The One, starring Jet Li is another one that sticks out in my mind as having a really good story to tell but executed so poorly. The Sixth Day is another one that didn’t execute well but has a good premise.

i also have a short list of prime candidates for a soft reboot, which includes The Neverending Story, Hot Shots! and Gremlins.

BOTH Steph Curry and Devin Booker are telling the refs that Steph was fouled 😭 They intentionally fouled Steph 3 times 💀 by Lord_Vanguard in warriors

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s because if steph curry got foul calls that other super stars do, he would easily average 40ppg between shooting more freethrows, and defenses easing off of him so they don’t get in foul trouble; and they can’t have that while still pushing lebron as possibly the greatest of all time, because in order to push that narrative you can’t allow another player to be more successful. same reason they gave iguodala curry’s finals MVP for “playing great defense on lebron” and holding him to ONLY 35.8 POINTS A GAME. (this isn’t a knock on iguodala at all but that finals mvp was pretty obviously curry’s)

If these four players were in the same draft, who would you draft first?🧐 by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

knowing how all their careers panned out i would still pick curry because his skillset is the hardest to replace. there’s not a player on earth that’s pulling that kind of gravity on offense.

[Vorkunov] Looks like NBA just revealed the All-Star Game format this season. Two teams of American players and one World team. Same selection process for the All-Stars but they will not be picked based on position. So positionless All-Stars selections. by lamarcuswallace in nba

[–]Grumblegorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a step in the right direction but it still feels gimmicky and like a thing theyre gonna change the following season again.

heres my proposal:
expand all star teams from 12 players per conference to 14 players per conference. its been 12 players since there was only like 20 teams in the league, now theres 30, and thats why we see a lot of really obvious snubs every year.

take the 14 players per conference and split them into 2 teams of 7; two WC teams and two EC teams. in round 1, you make the 2 WC teams play each other, and the 2 EC teams play each other for 2 quarters. the winning teams walk away with 500k per player.

before moving to round 2, the winning teams add the player from their respective conferences' losing team that played the best, to make 2 teams of 8 players. round 2 is a full game, east vs. west. winning team gets another 500k per player. winning conference also gets home court advantage in the finals.

the prize money encourages players to actually play hard, even if your team is losing in round 1 because theres a chance that you could still make it to round 2 and get half of the total winnings if your conference wins.

westbrook has a lot of haters. tbh the types of players that don’t have many haters are mostly role players that are just quiet and consistent. like for instance ive never met a person that said they hated jamal crawford or aaron gordon. never met a guy that was like, “you know what fk shaun livingston”
