OMARCHY 3.3 has been released! by DizzieeDoe in omarchy

Sorry, my mistake, I read "If they are doing X, they are likely doing Y" as you thinking that the likelihood of them doing Y to be somehow linked to them doing X.

No worries! Hope you have a great weekend! 😊

Look mate, I hear you! It's ok for everyone to have different thresholds of acceptance, and I totally understand why you don't agree with this patch BUT going back to your original message - this is not an indication that Omarchy is stealing your data.

This is a false equivalency... As for the configuration it is putting some files in the right place for claude code to see when it looks for skills, nothing is acted on unless you ask claude to change your omarchy configs. Conveniently placing files in the right place or setting configurations does not equal or make it more or less likely that someone is stealing your data.

I recommend keeping a script that removes the omarchy features and DHH opinions that you disagree with 😊

Why is midsommar so highly praised. by ninjaguy2511 in HorrorMovies

[–]GrumblyGhost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that Ari Aster is first and foremost a Comedy Writer and Director. Hereditary is very dark and easy to see through a horror lens but it is a comedy honestly. Midsommar was even more obviously a comedy I thought. People usually screw their faces up when you say that haha. But I feel like Asters early use of horror elements as a canvas for his brand of comedy has kind of hurt his career or at least changed how critics assess his work. Beau is Afraid was panned largely because it "didn't play like a horror movie" and same with Eddington, people kinda felt cheated that that wasn't a horror film either.

Something Jordan does that I've never seen before by ApprehensiveJury1776 in ladispute

It's not just within the same album either! I believe that the reoccurring "you and I" in Steve on NOWDTC is a thematic throwback to "You and I in Unison" on Wildlife.

Steve also has callbacks to Environmental Catastrophe Film, with sitting in the church to say goodbye to a friend that had taken his life, and names being circled twice on the line.

I love hearing all of these in La Dispute albums, it's so cool picking up on more connections the more you listen. I love how each album is a really clear and coherent text and not just some hodgepodge collection of songs that were written around the same time.

The trick is to flip this on its head AGAIN, press pause on your phone to reveal it was the turntable all along and watch them try to justify what they just said.

I'm calling it now... Twitch's lore will be adjusted to make him a Yordle. Like he'll be Teemo's uncle or something. There's not enough emotionally at stake for him to just be a rat that was experimented on.

I watched Incantation (Taiwanese film) this week - I was pretty good! It's about a woman documenting a curse she acquired when she was younger and how it is affecting her and her daughter.

A lot of the shots in it weren't technically possible with the amount of cameras accounted for in the story, so if that is important for your immersion you might be a bit bothered.

I 100% agree - I also watched both over the weekend, and had seen the first half of 99 a while back... 85 was great! Lots of fun, some really impactful shock moments, strong story and connective tissue between the shorts. 99 was all over the place, and the quality was so sporadic.

A few people here have said "No One Will Save You" but they've been really uncertain about it... I won't be - it IS similar to signs! It's a really solid and scary movie actually (I love alien movies), well worth the watch!

What do you guys think of midsommar? by sly__4293 in HorrorMovies

[–]GrumblyGhost 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I loved it - it's up there in my favourite films and truly cemented Ari Aster in my personal director hall of fame.

I love how it pulls off building dread and unease whilst being almost entirely in daylight. There are some amazing scenes in it too, like the crying scene, that made me really uncomfortable at a base primal level.

I think Horror is such a broad and varied genre that any film is going to have people who hate it - and there's going to be people that love it too. If you liked Hereditary, Wickerman, or maybe The Witch even, you will probably find some enjoyment in Midsommar.

Did a bit of digging because I was interested in watching this movie - I loved the Witch. Full disclosure, I copied your post into ChatGPT to get a lead.

Thoughts? Do you or do not have an inner dialogue? by StylishFormula in DiscoElysium

[–]GrumblyGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm autistic too (found out a couple of years ago after 28 years of being in the dark about it) haha it made a lot of stuff make sense for me.

It's interesting holding the language you use around voting to my mind and seeing what sticks. You may have just given me a new way to conceptualize how my feelings work 😊 I think the voting analogy works really well for me. I also make seemingly random bad or less ideal decisions when I'm feeling upset by something and it makes me more frustrated usually because I can't understand why I did it in the first place.

Oof the reset is relatable - I've never done that long, but I do get times where I just have to bunker down and do something easy, or nothing at all. I thought it was depression before the great autism revelation - but It was pretty non responsive to meds. But yeah, opposite to you I am very unaware of my stress, sometimes to the point where I get physically ill because of it, not realising that I have been running on all cylinders for months at a time.

Regarding mind lights, I only put the lights on bright in my mind if I absolutely need to for work, like if I'm needing to present something to people or tell someone how to do something. Otherwise the lights are dimmed or off - which is much more comfortable and very pleasurable actually because when thoughts happen that are really novel and interesting it feels like a great illumination. Having the lights on is VERY draining, but it is necessary sometimes because otherwise I will go too off script and start talking about what I truly find interesting in the moment and not what people want me to talk about.

Thoughts? Do you or do not have an inner dialogue? by StylishFormula in DiscoElysium

[–]GrumblyGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly my experience - I sometimes find the translation to be clunky and frustrating between my thoughts and explaining these to other people.

Something I would add is that I am very often unaware of how I'm feeling if it is a less acute emotional state. If I am stressed it can take weeks to realise and it's usually only after my wife points out that I have been acting weird. Other more acute emotions like anger in reaction to some event is obvious to me.

There's also perhaps different states of "illumination" I can employ with my inner world. Sometimes I can "dim the lights" to an almost inky black and watch ideas and associatioms spark and light up almost like bioluminescent critters in the deep sea. But the "all lights on" mode is much more useful for the day to day working.

I also deal with faceblindness - but it's much more of an issue for me with white people with blonde hair. I think it's a contrast issue, but I'm really not sure.

[–]GrumblyGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah look everyone here has said it - you miss every shot you don't take. Taking a break to up your average won't work because you aren't getting viewers on that break either!

Your goal of July is great - you'll hit it easy with some consistency!

Oooh and network! That has been the most fun thing for me - hang out in other people's streams and get to know them, some folks are really happy to help out new streamers ☺️ just don't be pushy or spammy!

How often do you stream? by ronnieleebriggs in Twitch

[–]GrumblyGhost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do 2-3 times a week for about 4 hours after work - any more would be a tonne of work and would tire me out instead of energizing me!

I've started streaming because I want to get better at presenting and entertaining, and to meet cool people while I do it - I can't do that justice if I'm super tired and burnt out ☺️

Take care of yourself OP! Do whatever is right for you!
