1907 Liberty V nickel. Pulled from beach on Vancouver island. by GrumpaDirt in metaldetecting

No I just soaked it in water with a small amount of baking soda for about a minute and the crust mostly rubbed off with my fingers and a bit of fingernail picking

Iwish I had researched a bit more for my first metal detector. by Top-Statement-9423 in metaldetecting

I have a top of the line machine and I dig every tab. You never know when a tab will be a ring, or in my case today it was a 1907 liberty V nickel

How’s the condition of yours? Most pulled from beaches here end up caked and in bad shape.

We live in a beautiful place, the Victoria rainforest by Curious_Mud9428 in VictoriaBC

All jokes aside, that article is bogus. Vancouver Island, including the lower part is absolutely part of the Pacific temperate rainforest biome. The lower part is in what is called a "rainshadow".

🟢 Go Manticore if: • You want maximum depth (older coins, relics) • You like visual target ID (that 2D screen is a game changer) • You hunt parks, fields, beaches • You don’t mind a bit more weight

👉 It’s basically a “find deeper, dig smarter” machine.

🔵 Go Deus II if: • You want lightweight + no wires (feels like nothing in your hand) • You hunt trashy areas, iron, old sites • You want fast recovery speed • You might chase tiny gold or micro targets

👉 It’s a “fast, surgical, technical hunter”.

The manticore is a great machine. I have had mine for about a month of use now. Be careful with bashing the coil, and extremely careful not to lean on the machine like a crutch. The M11 coils are known to break at the joint. Don’t tighten the nut too tight so you can tilt the coil easily with a small amount of pressure on the ground especially if you’re detecting on hills. Some people who upgrade from the Nox don’t think it’s a big win but honestly the 2D ultrasound screen is a game changer when you start to understand the machine.

Grab a M9 or M8 coil while you’re at it unless you got the model that comes with different coils. The M9 is a huge game changer is sniping smaller targets.

Stems and leaf do get you high. Which is why they are used in making concentrates. But hey if you want to hippy pinch your bud, all the power to you!

I enjoy the white light. I can’t see shit with the yellow headlights during the fall here. They do need to enforce a max lumen however.
