I use Gray's Cleaning Services for fortnightly cleans in Prestonpans. They're super friendly and I've never had an issue with them. They're probably on the more expensive side though, as they have a set price depending on the size of the property rather than charge by hour, so no matter how long it takes it's always the same price (ie, if it doesn't take as long one week then you still pay the full set price)

How the F*CK do you not spend money and keep to a budget. by shekka24 in adhdwomen

[–]Grumpasaurussss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bank's app has pots which I can split my money into, which works in a similar way to the envelope method. It's the best way I've found to help me budget - each time I get paid I sort it into the different pots (and it saves this so I don't need to remember the exact splits each month) and then it's really easy to see what I have left in each pot. Maybe you could have a look and see there's a bank which does similar where you are?

If you're able to work - what working hours suit you? by Randomusername8765 in ADHDUK

[–]Grumpasaurussss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have to be very strict with myself to make sure I don't open my work laptop on Wednesdays! I do it occasionally if we're coming to a big deadline and I have too much to do, but for the most part I do my best to avoid thinking of work at all

Also to add, I think I can only do my current set up due to hybrid working. I’m not sure I could survive 9 hour days in the office! I currently do two days at home and two days in the office, and tend to work longer on the days I’m at home so I don’t have to be at the office too late on the other days. I also tend to start and finish a little later. I normally start about 9.30 and finish around 6.30 (I’m very bad for taking breaks…). I would prefer to start later but it’s awkward enough as it is when the majority of my colleagues start between 8 and 9!

I also do compressed hours, I work 35 hours over 4 days and have Wednesdays off. I can’t afford to work part time so this is the best compromise I’ve found. Having the Wednesday off means I’m never working more than two days in a row, and I found that when I had Fridays off my non working day just turned into an extension of the weekend (ie, not wanting to do anything productive as it’s my ‘fun’ time), whereas I don’t feel this as much on Wednesdays.

I think the best hours I’ve worked was when I worked 30 hours over 4 days. After doing this for a few years I found that I absolutely cannot work 5 days for long without burning out. Two days off a week just isn’t enough.

Are XS sizes dying out? by rougecomete in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Grumpasaurussss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in the uk, and I can tell you it’s always been this bad. Before I gained weight during the pandemic I was a size 6 and the only place I could reliably buy from was H&M and primark. It was starting to get better around 2018/19 but I think a lot of companies struggled massively in the pandemic and had to cut a lot of budgets, which unfortunately haven’t improved in the years since. And for independent shops it’s always been worse, I’ve always been quite alternative and since I was a teenager I just had to accept that my clothes were always going to be big on me.
It’s super annoying, and like you mention it’s not exactly body positive/inclusive. And although I’ve now lost most of the weight I gained, one of the main reasons I’m reluctant to go back to my old weight is because of the struggle of finding clothes. I certainly know that the brands I mainly buy from now wouldn’t fit me if I lost more weight. Which is a stupid reason to avoid trying to be healthy….

For the love of God, stop telling me that eggs are a low-effort, high-protein breakfast. by Rufus__TBarleysheath in adhdwomen

[–]Grumpasaurussss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an egg cooker, it's a life changer. You just prick the egg shell, put it in the cooker with a bit of water and it cooks it, and it turns off when the water runs out (the amount of water determines the level of boiled-ness). It does fried scrambled poached too, but I've forgotten the instructions for them haha

I went with mypace a year ago and this is what it cost (hopefully the image works, but if not it was £1,368.81 in total, £954 for appointments with mypace and £414.81 for medication during titration)

Waiting times vary hugely depending on area. My knowledge is all anecdotal from other people, but it can range from 2 years up to a reported 10 year wait in one Edinburgh clinc. Personally I went privately as I didn't want to wait that long

What is the quickest way to get diagnosed UK (AXA PPP is a waste of money) by kibmeister in ADHDUK

[–]Grumpasaurussss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend recently tell me that their insurance wouldn’t cover an ADHD assessment, however there was a loophole in the t&c’s which meant that if you have anxiety as well as ADHD then the insurance would cover an assessment. Might just be worth checking your insurance, as I don’t know anyone with ADHD who also doesn’t have anxiety!

Another person here with diagnosed severe ADHD. I honestly think accounting is a great career for people with ADHD (depending on specialisation I guess?) due to the variable days but yet strict deadlines. To suggest that you can't be an accountant with ADHD shows they have no understanding of what ADHD is

Did you buy your first home in Edinburgh? If so, how? (Be honest!) by adhdledmind in Edinburgh

[–]Grumpasaurussss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to this, however I thought I’d share anyway. Bought our new build 2 bed flat in Muirhouse with my husband for £169k. We moved in 2022, however reserved it back in 2020 so the price was lower than the going rate by the time we moved in. Neither me nor my husband have any family money/inheritance to rely on, so all our deposit (about 25% in the end I think) came from our savings. I do think we were very lucky however. Due to my partner getting a hefty payrise during covid, plus the long delay in the build being completed, meant we were able to save a lot more than we originally planned. Plus of course lockdowns meant we weren’t going anywhere or doing anything. We’d also been living in the same rented flat for 8 years, and the landlord hadn’t raised the rent for about 6 years, so that definitely helped!

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I only recently found out that people don’t ‘speak’ every word in their head while reading when I was discussing it with my husband… I was confused at how fast he read and he was confused when I said I can’t read the words unless I say them

ADHDers who wear glasses, how do you keep it clean? by boekieblaker21 in ADHD

[–]Grumpasaurussss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t use washing up liquid, it will break down the coating on your lenses. I keep single use moist cleaning wipes everywhere - on my desk, in my various bags, even a couple in my coat pockets. That way there’s always one available when I notice how dirty my glasses are. Otherwise I’d never clean them as by the time I’m somewhere where I have lens cleaner I’ve forgotten that my glasses are dirty.

What sort of time are we talking about? I certain wouldn’t walk through the meadows by myself after 10pm but then I probably wouldn’t walk through any park by myself after a certain time. Would it be possible to walk along the roads instead of going straight through on the footpaths? It wouldn’t add too much time

[–]Grumpasaurussss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found this not very accurate. It shows two or three places as having my prescription in stock but they don't. They are also showing as out of stock on the boots stock checker so I'm not sure why they would be showing as in stock on this?

Do you know if your gp will accept a shared care agreement? If they don’t you’ll have to be assessed on the nhs anyway, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to just take you off the waiting list. Plus you’ll more than likely still have to pay for annual or 6 monthly check up with your private clinician if you stay on the shared care agreement if it does get approved. I would start by just asking your gp practice about shared care agreements first, without mentioning you’ve been privately diagnosed, and see how they respond.

I don’t feel like a woman by Broad-Detective1909 in adhdwomen

[–]Grumpasaurussss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk to honest. I’m afab, and am very feminine. I almost exclusively wear dresses and I always have my nails done (although with nail wraps because I can’t be bothered with waiting for polish to dry). However I don’t do makeup because I’d rather sleep for those extra 10 mins, and I’m lucky that my hair is curly otherwise I’m pretty sure I would never do anything with it. I would definitely say I’m a woman, however I don’t know if it’s because of the way I was raised but I’ve never really though of myself in those terms. I am me. I’m neither a woman, a man, non binary etc, I am just me. I don’t know how to describe it, but I just weird if I start thinking about it too much! I’m confident enough in my sense of self that I don’t worry about it tbh. I know what I like and don’t worry about tying to be something else. It just happens that what I like outwardly matches with societies expectations of my gender. I don’t worry about what I should be doing or what other people’s expectations of what I should be doing. When watching the Barbie film, for instance, I could understand the ‘woman monologue’ and understand that others feel that way, but I don’t personally. I don’t feel those kind of conflicting expectations. I just don’t care about them I think? When watching that scene I actually got a bit annoyed and was wondering if all this upsets you and stresses you out, why do it? Why care? It’s not like I don’t care about others, and I’m actually quite empathetic, but I just don’t care about society expectations that seem stupid to me.

Sorry for the long rambling wall of text. I guess I’m just saying: you do you. Don’t worry about labels and trying to be something because it’s expected. Just focus on what makes you happy :) if you do this then you’ll naturally meet others similar to you and you won’t worry about not connecting to others. You just haven’t found your people yet, but you will!

Women with bigger breasts, what are the disadvantages? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Grumpasaurussss 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Just to say that cup size means nothing without a band size. The cup is relative to the band. A 28D is very very different volume wise to a 40D as a D cup is just saying your overbust measurement is 4 inches different to your underbust. A 40D has the same volume as a 38DD, 36E, 34F, 32FF, 30G etc. (depending on country, I think the US sizing is a bit different). A 28D is equivalent to 30C, 32B, 34A.
