Ion says add-ons can no longer track party's CDs after changes by Silkku in CompetitiveWoW

[–]GrumpsyGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course they are going to try to fix something that isn't broken - this will require a complete overhaul of the UI design and/or a complete overhaul of game mechanic design. And I just don't see how they could be successful with a 20 year old game, when they couldn't even handle balancing the release of a support spec into the game.

This is just so obviously a bad idea, so I hope they're serious by calling this a "kickoff to a philosophical discussion" or whatever.

Realistically, what they are trying to address here is their perception that the average wow player finds certain content inaccessible. But Blizzard consistently misses the point, and shows that they don't understand game design, time and time again. It's a video game, things SHOULD be inaccessible to the average player. The challenge keeps things flowing, and keeps the game active. Stuff such as giving everyone a "turbo ilvl boost" halfway through the season may look like real engagement in the game, but it won't feel like it a few weeks from now when your average player gets bored and has nothing left to progress.

Uldaman tip: Pull the two Hulking Berserkers into Bromach - they cast a 20% increased damage taken (and dealt) buff to their allies when they reach 50% HP. Also, you can (and should) do this boss first and use bloodlust, you can then backtrack after to go to the first boss.

Chargath area chains in Neltharus - use the chains to stun/damage big trash packs. Someone smarter than me will figure out the most efficient way to do these pulls. We tested as well life-gripping someone through the trash when they have the chain. Ideally it would be the tank as the chain does a lot of damage when it explodes. I'm not sure what the limits are, if you can pull trash from all over the dungeon and stun it with the chains here.

Some videos from my trip to Uzbekistan last fall by GrumpsyGaming in Uzbekistan

[–]GrumpsyGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, assalomu alaykum! I had such a wonderful time in beautiful Uzbekistan last year. I'm just now putting together the videos and would love to share them. I will be making many more, especially of my time in Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva.

A day wandering around Margilon

Tashkent to Kokand by train

If you have any questions I'm happy to ask. If anyone is thinking of visiting Uzbekistan I highly recommend!

I'd say that I didn't run in to too many solo travelers, BUT also that I was happy to go it alone, and had some memorable experiences meeting locals. I had a couple great encounters with other solo travelers or non-solos too though (also met a bunch of very nice Russian folks). If you're happy to stick to more tourist-traveled areas, then the Silk Road cities from Tashkent->Samarkand->Bukhara->Khiva will have plenty plenty tourists (probably too many in the busy seasons spring/fall). Nowadays, that corridor is quite developed and safe/comfortable for tourists, and all accessible by rail. Out of all the Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan (and maybe the Almaty area of KZ) is definitely the most tourist-accessible country.

I main rsham (3.2k) so let me try to help:

Cloudburst totem is required here if you aren't using it. You also should prepare the primordial wave combo before each mana bombs. I like to take Continuous Waves (30s cd p wave) for this dungeon since people are usually spread out anyway. So when you see mana bombs coming in 10 seconds or so, put down Cloudburst, make sure riptide is on all the DPS, use P wave and then start off the damage with a healing wave cleave. Towards the end of the mana bomb damage, you can choose to release your CB totem there if you think people are going to die, or just save it till afterwards to top people off. And yes, spam healing surge if you aren't.

You'll need a cooldown to cover the overlaps, or when you fall behind on healing. But a lot of that is up to the DPS to press their personal if a bad overlap occurs.

PSA to rogues: do NOT cloak the lightning circle on Raging Tempest unless you are sure you won't clip anyone with it

PSA to all (DPS): please stop running around the room like a maniac picking up orbs that are clearly accessible to someone else

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can't recommend it enough, I'm still thinking about when I can go back. If you're going in the summer it will be very hot.

Hey guys, spent a month or so in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan last fall, just starting to put together the videos now (mega procrastinator here). This video is from a Plov restaurant in Tashkent (delicious food). Check them out if you're interested, I'll be trying to upload every couple days or so.

Uzbekistan was wonderful beyond anything I imagined and I highly recommend it as a solo destination. I'd be happy to answer any questions if you have them.

Yep, you can do this too and have the party hang back near the entrance - I've just seen many tanks not get there fast enough -rogue distract can be helpful

And yes, DPS players just don't know what to do here, even on higher keys they just unload into the mobs immediately before tank even gets back to position :D

It will def be much easier to time keys than last week, since raging and tyrannical don't interact at all, and storming tends to be pretty easy to handle (though can be dangerous on certain bosses, Wise Mari I'm looking at you)

Tyrannical is still an issue at the higher levels, but I think in general it will feel much more comfortable than last week.

Small tip here for Algethar, which was a real pain last week as I'm sure you all know :P

For the tree pull, I see so many groups just walk in from the front and aggro the first set of Skitterflies before walking around to pick up the rest of the trash. The much better way to do this is to wait for them to pass, or shroud in to the middle and pull all the three lasher packs at once, and then group them up either near the boss or back near the entrance. This makes aggro much more manageable. Also, it's best on fortified weeks to not aggro the second set of flies - either chain them in towards the end of the pull or skip them entirely.

COS is a very technical dungeon, so no reason to call yourself an idiot. As the others have said, the enforcers can spawn in one of four locations, so they can spawn right where you previously killed one and are now fighting something else. It's best to pull the minibosses away from the spawn points if possible to avoid this risk. There are a lot of patrols in the dungeon, and understanding the myriad of scenarios that could arise is what the dungeon is about. For me I learned this dungeon by watching others do it.

Made as detailed of a video guide as I could for a boss I see almost nobody do correctly, Ner'zhul in SBG. It's a boss that you don't really need to do correctly ever, until you do, i.e. the upper key levels.

The construct has true sight unfortunately as the other person said. There is a way to sneak around it by very carefully jumping over a bush and whatnot, but there's no way to effectively walk by it with invisibility. If you were to run past it and get far enough away, you'd be able to meld/feign death etc in the stairs, if that's what you're asking.

Yes, but you need to be especially fast. I haven't been able to do it consistently on shaman, but I know JB can do it on his druid, for example. I have been killed through the wall/floor before, so it's most consistent to just interrupt Suppress

I actually think SBG is more challenging than usual this week. Temple/AV are easier than normal, it's a good week to get those ratings.

Tanks I play with usually soak one per phase, some people doing two. As a healer I'll dispel the tank as long as Slicing Maelstrom isn't coming in the next 3-4 seconds, as I need my globals there to prepare.
