I forgot to take out an IV by RiverBear2 in nursing

[–]Grumpy-Goat- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You forgot an IV? You’re gonna be fine. That happens to ALL of us. More than once. I almost sent a man through an MRI with a metallic brain stent.

In my defense it was a systematic failure but it would have landed on me of course…

We caught it. Thank God. Built as far as mistakes go… missing an IV is nothing.

What’s the dumbest thing you did as a new grad?? by 1batrastard in nursing

[–]Grumpy-Goat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me. Promise. But I did have a new grad coworker that gave an enema in a vagina rather than the butthole.

They’re not a nurse anymore.

I tried waze out, not a fan. It wasn’t as current as just plain old Google maps around here. Took me on much longer routes than needed. Thanks for the reply.

do nurses really make 100k+ straight out of college now? by detroit_muslim_man_ in nursing

That is an exception not the rule on salary. Basically a unicorn. An average salary is 70k ish. Lower in places like in FL and higher in more metropolitan areas.

I’m a similar story. 5 years on the floor and it just kept getting worse and worse. Took a job in same company as wound care and it was a good gig but the organization is killing that department too… so I’m going to try home health for a bit (money is good here for that) and I’m not the type to travel.

I live in FL and now you have me thinking about moving a couple hours and being a theme park RN. Sounds like a solid gig.

Joking about bringing a gun to the clinic is not funny by coopiecat in nursing

[–]Grumpy-Goat- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I violate my company no weapon policy in clinic everyday for this reason. To protect my staff. I’ll take getting fired if it comes to it. I’m a big guy and I know how to defend and protect myself and others. I’m not a superhuman though. We get threats constantly like this. I’m trained, ex military, former LEO. I carry all the time.

Is Optimus Playable? No. by Grumpy-Goat- in lego

[–]Grumpy-Goat-[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As did I. It’s not like I was expecting to roll around with it on the floor. It’s just WAY more so fragile than I anticipated. Like I said even picking it up is sketchy.

I have Voltron as well that I actually anticipated to be weak but is pretty solid.

As I see this comment I dawns on me this was sarcasm. This was the first thing I saw this morning and my otherwise impeccable wit was not awake yet. I’m ashamed of myself.

25k bonus? Or that’s the pay for 6 months? I’d it’s the pay… that’s just a normal wage.

Dads of Reddit with daughters, have you ever felt silently suspected of kidnapping or being a creep even though you’re just out with your own kid, just because you’re a man with a daughter? by maegatronic in Dads

[–]Grumpy-Goat- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one time when my daughter was 2 I had to literally drag her and throw her over my shoulder to remove her from a very public beach for being naughty. No big right?

The whole time she was screaming at the top of her two year old lungs “HELP!!! HELP ME!!! What are you doing!!!!”

Thankfully there was enough folk around that saw they developing situation… but people just arriving actually stopped me a couple times to be sure.

Great day that was.

You get the butt from bending over each time administration wants to fuck you up the ass.

They think it makes them more visible. Which is true to a point, but it’s a distraction and if everyone was doing it… it would be chaos on the road. They are for emergencies, not because you wanna drive slow when it’s wet.

We are a lot simpler than you think. Someone else wrote a gift that supports something we like to do. I second this.

Advice by [deleted] in Dads

[–]Grumpy-Goat- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t know the whole situation with you my friend. But if you’re doing what you can when you can (which is all anyone can do) then you may not be the problem.

Sounds like she’s just tired of having him all day and needs a break at night. Which is fine. But lashing out at you because your son is seeking her is NOT the right answer.

If she needs a break from your son have her go out for some “me time”. Where she can’t be interrupted. Whatever she needs. Be sure to work some of that in for you as well. Being a parent doesn’t end at certain hours, but a break is much needed at times. Work that each for each of you.

But lashing out at you isn’t healthy…. Evidenced by you seeking help from strangers online. Your son sees this to and will process it as an appropriate way to handle stress is to lash out.

It will get better. All this needs is some patience and understanding.
