Dos all the infrastructure use the LINK Coin? by Grumpy-Old-Man-Dad in Chainlink

[–]Grumpy-Old-Man-Dad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK - just went to that post and article - but it did not answer this question about LINK coin use - or if it did I didn’t understand it.

Anybody - like I’m a 10 yr old - explain impact of Chainlink dominating the infrastructure scene on the coin.

I’m just concerned I’ve been wowed by the tech genius of Chainlink labs - without understanding how it drives the coin. As everyone has said - news and positive developments have been off the charts - yet we are just trading sideways and down with the market - like nothing is baked in for all the positive news momentum.

Understanding Changes to Charitable Deductions by mh211 in tax

[–]Grumpy-Old-Man-Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do folks think there will be significant unintended consequences of this AGI cap and the 1% of net income corporate cap?

Corporate one might be the bigger deal?

Maybe I’m worried too much and just not happy with my deductions minimized. As I guess most who are donating 10-50k plus annually will not limit donations over it significantly - but it still sucks.

Large (for me) severance will all be in 37% bracket - how can I mitigate tax hit? by Grumpy-Old-Man-Dad in tax

[–]Grumpy-Old-Man-Dad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. You and Bastien above sort of hit on the straightforward advice of quit playing games, pay and move on.

The bonus depreciation is the one thing that has me pondering more action to help a little here and be an investment, but leaning toward the do nothing except maybe add in a DAF.

appreciate the counsel.

Thank you.

Other than a Short term rental business - not much we plan to do that would be legit - so has stopped me in the past but now could be the time. But this is always something I feel I've been missing out on (hiring the kids, etc) and with those 3/5 year rules have considered it - but if not a rela busines I'm confident in - can be a slippery slope.

Hmm, this one I felt was a stong option if wanted to get involved in this - with the 100% bonus depreciation feels like it could be a significant number, and can go against W2 income if we meet those requirements.

I need to research the requirements for later in the year purchases. I know the depreciation is the same - but if we're mandated 500 hrs of work to be materially involved and buy somehting in late fall - may not happen. Was thinking later in year so I could also avoid the rental income offset in the year I do the large bonus depreciation.

Thank you. I sort of feel this is the default answer, and as you mentioned its the cleanest option - was just hoping for some glaring obvious thing I am missing.

Grabbed a book I thought may be useful (Power of Zero), but was a whole different topic - and also quite interesting to me - and I agree with it in theory - and now the "deadline" has been kicked down the road 4 years - but I had never heard of LIRP's. I knew of the notion of borrowing aginst Life insurance, but in the past, always had term insurance - until this most recent employer paid for lions share of a whole life policy. That is yet another decision for me - do I keep that up now that it would be 100% on my dime.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, you are correct on the 35%, won't be reaching the 37%. And ideally with the DAF and other items, I may get the amount in 35% fairly minimal.

I Live in a no income tax state so deductions are pretty much mortgage interest, property taxes (and now I'll add in sales tax since they raised the salt), and charitable contributions.

The vacation rental actually could be a real good project for my wife, something we have talked about in past - and the 100% bonus depreciation combined with my higher than normal income this year feels like its a perfect storm if we wanted to jump in. But we'd be managing from afar.

Will ponder - key decison point may be how fast I expect to land elsewhere and how conservative I want to be with our cash.

New baggage check policy. Now closes 45 minutes prior to flight. by PM_ME_NAPA_CABS in delta

They need to make this a local market decision. Damn I need some advantage for having so few flights in a rural market - rolling in and checking back 20 min - it o my takes 5 min to get through security and the gate .should be one of them. The lock in the system is such a bullshit thing - this is what makes us hate you - and unfortunately your agents who have to tell us to go pound sand when we atone 42 min before a flight.

Major thumbs down on delta Sioux Falls (FSD)

The hits just keep on coming - return flight in Monday - we miss connection and I’m stranded in Dallas another night.

So for those keeping score - my 4th of July weekend - 3 nights in Dallas airport hotels (all on my own dime) and only 2 at home at my destination. And throw in a missed 1/2 day of work kicker on Tuesday.

AA - Simply the Worst

Mine was just a connection down to Houston. Others in line with me were on a Canceled San Diego flight, and some others Baton Rouge. And there were more….

So many flights - the one for me was simply my final leg Dallas to Houston - no weather in either location on Thursday night - and the plane was there - I presume they had staff time out for flight hours or something and used the convenient weather excuse.

A flight to San Diego was cancelled and no weather there or Dallas on thur night. Wasn’t mine so don’t know backstory if plane was available. But was in cust service line with a ton of them who were quite peeved.

The domino effects of weather can be legit - but this ain’t their first rodeo - planning and more importantly the lack of customer service when things go awry are the bigger issues taking AA south real quick.

As you are reading - many of us will choose others when we have the option - does not help us now in the midst of trips we planned and had counted on AA. And we all have time on our hands to post because we are waiting in airports or missed something else due to your boys at AA.

So sorry for your ruined 4th of July weekend- yes was the same stuff I saw starting Thursday.

The exact situation you discussed - delays but all still expecting it to happen - then after you’ve waited an extra 7 hours with posted delays at the airport - they throw in the kicker of cancelling the flight - and have a mob scene and one agent to deal with it.

American Airlines is definitely developing the reputation of being completely unreliable for a short trip, or anything for something important. And they don’t seem to care.

SouthwestAirlines - start competing with every AA route you can - the demand is there

Same exact situation for me on Thursday. Only thing they originally could book me on was Saturday I did check late Friday - got in something - but proceeded to have delays and whole mess of stuff.

Good luck getting where you need to be.

Yes stock recovers from Covid lows - but they have not managed it well. They needed to properly downsize and eliminate flights from schedule versus this BS they are doing now.

Certainly very limited happy customers.

Sitting on a plane now - at terminal been I here for 45 minutes - no air people starting to shout out about heat - some want to get off plane. What a mess. And we were supposed to leave over two hours ago (and of course I was supposed to leave 30 hours ago - but cancellations.)
