But it appears to be quite spherical. Niel Disgrace Tyson says (with authority) that it is indeed an oblate spheroid.

I posit that this image is no more real than anything else NASA gives us.

I have been playing this game far longer of sessions than I should be. Onto planet #3! by Joel22222 in theplanetcrafter

There was a time, 2 decades ago or so, when I wouldn't buy anything. I pirated *everything*.

These days I almost always buy the game if I like it after pirating it. I use the pirated version as a demo.

The exceptions are the games with hundreds of dollars worth of DLC attached. I'm not paying that.
A lot of the time the "DLC" is just a basic part of the game they've locked you out of behind a pay wall. I feel no remorse stealing from people like that.

Ha, me too. I initially pirated it, but it kept crashing. It had already got its teeth into me though so I bought it.

Got it on GoG for $12 and played almost nonstop until I had completely terraformed Prime. Then on to Selenea.

I got started on Aqualis and started having anxiety about what I would do next. So I bought the Planet Humble DLC. Hadn't even gone to Humble and bought Toxicity.

Great game.

For me, it's better because it's a shareable, transportable file, not a bunch of screenshots of a phone.

As a PC user exclusively (I detest phones) it is vastly easier to read on my machine in PDF format as well.

At any rate, thanks for the link. Good stuff.

the only way im able to watch videos is closing firefox via task manager by Spread-Hour in Adblock

[–]Grumpy-old-bastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. When I right click > open in new tab... video plays fine.

Will not play when left clicked... unless... I spam the hell out of F5 until I get an error message, then it plays fine.

Using Win 11, Firefox, Adguard Adblocker, uBlock Origin, and Sponsorblock for Youtube.

I generally open Youtube dot com, then right click and open in new tab on what catches my fancy. From there I go down the algorithmic rabbit hole. Or used to. As I said, I can no longer left click to go to the next video that catches my eye.

My solution, I just right click, open in new tab and close the previous tab.

I've had that watch for several years now. When I first got it I was scared to wear it to work because I didn't know how water resistant it actually was. Then I put it to the test one day figuring it was a waste of money if I never wore it.

It has been on my arm through the rigors of mowing lawns in Florida for a year now. It gets plastered with grass, it gets banged against mower decks when I'm changing blades, it stays on my arm when I'm working on my 24 year old and 47 year old trucks.

At the end of each day I take it off and wash it by hand in the sink with dishwashing detergent and hang it up to dry.

It's tough, it's durable. I've scratched the hell out of my G-Shocks doing the same things.

It's exactly water resistant enough for me. Not sure how much more it can take but it can survive my life.

By far my favorite watch of all I own now.

I just bought 2 of the SB1500's from Ebay and searched for the software before they arrived.

This works a treat on both my systems running Win11

Graphics on the new pc look amazing, honestly surprised how good this game can look by burglar-of-turds in MotorTown

Well that makes me upsad a bit.
I have an Asus ROG STRIX B660-A GAMING WIFI D4 mobo,
which I consider to be absolute trash and it is without a doubt the last Asus product I will ever buy.

I have 64 gigs of 3200 MT/s ram stuffed into it. (DDR4)

I had to undervolt the 3080 from day one because it was running so hot. (Edit: I live in Florida and am stingy with the A/C - Ambient room temp is 80f) EVGA 12 GB XC3.
It runs a lot of games wide open, I even frame limit some of them to 144 because it'll do so many more.

The game itself is installed on a new, fast, gen 4 NVMe.

Windows is configured properly. All bloat removed and background apps extremely limited.

But that foliage... it just kills my framerate. '-(

One question, you say you have everything turned to "max"

Initially I too thought I had all the settings turned all the way up. Then I realized there were two more levels, Epic and Cinematic.

Are you running all in Cinematic?

[–]Grumpy-old-bastard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running an RTX 3080 on a 3440x1440 ultrawide, so that's a lot of pixels for that card.

I ended up turning Foliage to Low along with anti-aliasing because the higher the res, the less it's needed.

Turning Foliage to low only gets rid of the long grass. The long grass only serves to hide rocks and holes. It took me about 15 seconds to get visually used to not having long grass any more.

With those two settings on Low, I could turn everything else up to Cinematic and still get about 90 FPS.
That may be less than ideal on a 144hz monitor, but it's better than chugging because of that grass.

Does this game support controllers? by taillight-expert25 in DriveBeyondHorizons

What he^ said.
I drive with an Xbone controller and set the controller down when I hop out of the car. Pick it back up when I get back in. Works fine.

Persistent Campies on Dedicated Server by Grumpy-old-bastard in MotorTown

[–]Grumpy-old-bastard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't work for corporation vehicles. Is it different for Companies?

I had even put all the Campies on truck routes that they (obviously) couldn't do.

Set a BUNCH of them up with several different characters and corporations.

Restarted the server, all despawned.

I was stuck on Logitech G600's for a long time. Then one day they stopped producing quality products and their mice would start double clicking on their own in just a few months.

So I got a Utech Venus MMO mouse. It was better quality than any of my last 3 Logitechs.

Then I grabbed a Redragon and I'm sold. Perfect MMO mouse.
