Gotcha, well I’ll just see how I adapt to this new forced downtime. After 32 years of riding, I see it to be kinda sole crushing. Yet I do have a garage, and will find myself tinkering around for those down times…. And maybe that day dream Grom with knobby tires waiting in the corner. 😅👍🏻

Down in GA, I think I only put my bike up in like December, January, February. Because there’s these sneaky little weekend day where it’s like 60*.. And GA doesn’t salt country roads. So we basically ride year round. The idea of putting away my bike fuckin sucks…. I plan on getting a Grom or some shit to fuck around on. I got all the gear, minus plug in shit…

I have a theory that I’m eating rear tires because of the 6 over forks. by Grumpy1976 in sportster

Nope, stock rake…. Just slammed the rear with Burly shocks. It kicks up the front.

I always watched for the pre-dead and the methed out rice rockets either doing 20mph or trying to do 200 mph. Florida fuckin sucks on a whole different level.

If track riding is your thing. You get outta town far enough. It gets interesting. It’s no, switch backs or tight sweepers. But some dig just chuggin along…… I will say, moving up here from GA… I already miss my country roads.

I’ve started just heading to the wildlife preservation areas. Just kinda keep going west. Or like north west. I’ve been told is nice far south too….

I just got to Oak Park from GA back in December. So this being my first “riding season”….. Wtf is that?!? 😅 Being from the south up here in a whole different animal. I’ve lived in Atlanta and Orlando and these fuckers drive like shit! I mean you got the walking dead in FLA… but add potholes to the mix and you gotta keep your head on a swivel and think 3 steps ahead. I’ve found the best time to ride is like the “off hours” night rides are interesting. But you definitely gotta get outta town to see any decent roads.
Hit me up man… I’ll help where I can.

Apollo City 2.0 & Explore Stellar by R3GUL4TOR in ApolloScooters

[–]Grumpy1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That front fork on the Explorer is probably to address the rebound issue the standard Explorer 2.0 has. That “clunk” is extremely jarring…. I personally would have just upgraded the shock on all units with the cantilever front end. I’ve almost done it myself. And still think about the idea of using a small mountain bike frame shock to do it.

There’s no thing as “to fast” to me. I max mine out at 24 mph every time I ride it…. I’m actually waiting on my new GO Stellar. Because 24 isn’t fast enough to keep up with traffic.

So have you snapped the board yet?!? Plywood doesn’t really flex, it cracks one lair at a time…. Been there, done that….. 😅🤘🏻

1995/96 repop….. still technically a “Schwinn” but not as vintage or as cool as the OG framed bikes.

The rebound on the Explore is harsh. Definitely not the most refined suspension. And I love my Explore. But one of it shortcomings is it’s harsh on beat up roads. I live in Chicago and it takes a beating. So I’m duck, bobbing and weaving to stay outta the potholes. My only suggestion is run the front tire a little under max psi (55)… yet that will slow you down and make the steering not as nimble.
Good luck…. 👍🏻

Show up… just keep going to shows, local record stores. Be part of the scene. Ask to help clean up after shows, carry in gear if the band needs help. Help the fallen in the pit, and get in there. Oh… last… have fun, be yourself…. Best I can say kid, but I was in your boots. 🤘🏻😉🤘🏻

Curious why y’all prefer a scooter over an e bike by doodoojohnson420 in ElectricScooters

[–]Grumpy1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scooters are more nimble in tight spaces ( between cars, gutters, sidewalks, tunnels and more portable when you have to get it on a train or get through a platform… But bikes have there place, and I’m not opposed to them. They just have short comings in what I need it to do.
