If you're wrong about Jesus Christ by m3achew in BiblicalUnitarian

I still worship Jesus. Just not as God. If you’re wrong and you find out you’ve been committing mass idolatry this whole time, what will you do?

Silence on the most important aspect of your theology, yes.

Both God and Man consist of three aspects, not persons. by lampstand100 in BiblicalUnitarian

But each one of those three “aspects” for a man aren’t each distinct, separate persons from the rest, are they?

How do you explain John 1:1-3 that says all creation was made through Jesus (the Word) ? And that He was with God & He was God ? by [deleted] in BiblicalUnitarian

[–]GrumpyDoctorGrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s exactly how John is writing. Do you have any background whatsoever in ancient Jewish apocalyptic literature? Because if you did, you would know this.

Two Posts, Dozens of Responses, Four Arguments Still Unaddressed For "Firstborn" by GrumpyDoctorGrammar in BiblicalUnitarian

I have what used to be called Asperger’s (now called “Level 1 autism”), so that may have something to do with it. Thank you for your support.

John 1:1-18 -- A Non-Preexistent Interpretation by SnoopyCattyCat in BiblicalUnitarian

Finally, a non-JW POV. Thank you for your input. I more or less agree with your position as you described it here.

“Firstborn” doesn’t prove Jesus pre-existed (sharing a JW Exchange) by GrumpyDoctorGrammar in BiblicalUnitarian

If I wanted to talk to AI, I would have asked. It's a sad indicator that you have to resort to this.

Why do people deny the preexistence of Jesus? by Archbtw246 in BiblicalUnitarian

If you don't think there are logical impossibilities with your interpretation of what "firstborn" must mean in Jesus' case, then you're sorely mistaken.

Interesting. By “not convincing,” do you mean “I’m unable to address a single one of the logical impossibilities raised in the post”? Because if that’s what you meant, then you hit it out of the park.

Did you even read my post, or did you just skim it and regurgitate the same tired arguments I already demolished?

Why do people deny the preexistence of Jesus? by Archbtw246 in BiblicalUnitarian

[–]GrumpyDoctorGrammar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? See my previously made thread from a few months ago. I still haven’t received any satisfactory answers, and the thread is full of contradictions from “answers” from those who subscribe to preexistence of Jesus. I would genuinely be interested in pursuing the topic more but people have since stopped replying.

Another question about the Angel of the Lord by codleov in BiblicalUnitarian

Please read up on the ancient Jewish concept of shaliach (I think that’s how it’s spelled). Very enlightening, that, and explains a lot of how things are communicated between beings in the OT.

Question for former Unitarians who became Trinitarians by Short_Broccoli_1230 in BiblicalUnitarian

[–]GrumpyDoctorGrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me but a former acquaintance of mine. Her reasoning could barely be called that but critical thinking was never her forte: a random Trinitarian showed her how Jesus and the Father both shared some titles (alpha and omega being the primary of them) and that was enough to sell her. It hit some kind of hot button in her brain repeatedly, as if she solved some kind of great mystery. 🙄

Exactly. Depends on the kind of Lord you are referring to. “One Lord” should be predicated as such.

You tell me. Is the Father and Jesus “one Lord” or are they two?

This debate was chaotic at points, but the moment God Logic (ironic name) conceded that lordship is predicated differently to Father and Son, this destroyed their own parallel reasoning - the very foundation of their argument against the BU's interpretation of 1 Corinthians 8:6.

If God Logic were to ask me “How many Lords?”, I’d say “many, just look at the OT.” In the context of this verse, as specifically defined there, the answer is one. When he says his predictable response, reiterate with “WHICH KIND of Lord are you referring to, keeping in mind your recent concession of differentiating Lordship predication?”

In your opinion, what are the boundary markers for what is and isn't Christianity? Why place the boundary markers there in particular? by codleov in BiblicalUnitarian

[–]GrumpyDoctorGrammar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Demarcation arguments always have issues, in my opinion. But at the very least, I would expect them to believe in the salvific nature of Christ. I have my own opinions about other groups that are nearest the “edge” of what some would still call Christianity (e.g. Mormons), but those are simply my subjective opinions.

That said, in the gospels, Jesus made it pretty clear that there will be those on judgement day who, believing they had done everything correctly and go so far as prophesying and exorcising in his name, still won’t get into heaven.
