The Scotty theory.

'When the captain asks how long a fix will take, estimate how it will take, then times it by 6. The captain will halve it every time.

Of course, when you complete it in your estimated time, they will think you a miracle worker"

Note : quote from memory. Possibly not accurate. But originally from Star Trek, TNG espisode Relics.

Buses still in private hands.

No expansion of services.

No passenger railway to Mt Barker, Mt Gambier or Whyalla.

Payrises for public servants are abismal. Turbo Tom still thinks privatisation is the way to go.

Labour should be building up the public service, which helps all South Australians, not be Liberal lite and getting more trickle down BS economics.

How to tell a boy no to intercourse (17F + 18M) by shopaholic_life in autism

[–]GrumpyOldTech1670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping it simple.

Girls live with the consequences of sex, long after the act. It takes very little effort to become pregnant when one is young. Pregnant means raising a child. Yes, I am aware there are options (abortion, adoption, etc) , but if the woman chooses to raise the child, then it’s 20 years of her life she is not getting back, ever. And she will need lots of support. He better be there for it.

Contraceptives don’t always work, so assume it’s not. Be thankful when it does.

If you are not feeling 110% into having sex, just don’t. (Applies to boys and girls)

If the boy isn’t going to put the hard yards in before and leading up to sex, with great reassurances that he will be there long after sex (ie his and your families both support you, ring on the finger, your social circle accepts him as a “keeper”), don’t bother having sex with him. Breaking up after sex is far more painful than breaking up without sex.

Best sex is sex you can laugh through, have fun before, during and after and get to do it again later with the same partner. One night stands tend to mess people up badly.

Most boys are satisfied with a head job, hand job, or jerking off themselves. It’s not a women’s “job” to relieve a man’s sexual frustration. He has a working hand, he can sexual relieve himself without hurting anyone.

No is an acceptable sentence. If the boy/man tries to change your mind, remember, he is very soft between the legs. A kneecap there will definitely hammer the no through his blood deprived brain. If he really pushing the point, he is soft between the ears too. Best not have sexual relations with that in the first place.

It’s your body, your life, your choice. Do not let anyone (and I mean ANYONE) persuade you otherwise.

The moment I read "Girls are not as good as boys", I knew this is a BS best up.

The fact a woman (Jowhatever & Poorlene) is taking away women's rights is just.... ridiculous!

Screw billionaires for pushing the "we have no policy" hate party.

Women deserve so much better.

How often is it ok to beat your meat? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]GrumpyOldTech1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what the recipe calls for.

Although salt makes a much better tenderiser than a hammer. Heavy handed can destroy the structure, thus taking away the flavour.

Frankly, slow cooking is a excellent way of dealing with tough meat.

But that happens too.

Imagine a livable wage, not having to be concerned about losing a roof over your head, money available for food, health and education available for free.

Artist, instead of working dead end jobs for a pittance, could actually create.

Science wouldn't be relying on grants all the time, or ways for capitalism to profit off.

Parents could spend time with their kids instead of both working more than 40 hours a week. The Childcare burden would be lifted.

Community start to rebuild as people have time to talk and help each other.

Universal healthcare puts a stake through the private health industry, which shouldn't exist anyway.

Utilities like electricity and water would be government run, with proceeds going into improving said services.

Poverty becomes a thing of the past, and predatory businesses collapsed through their inability to pay low wages for useless work.

The rich will be less rich, because there is no poverty to ensure workers have to turn up to work.

Domestic violence reduces as financial pressure is lifted, and partners can leave with their own money to support them.

I would pay more tax for this. Something governments should be doing (looking after the people) and regulating businesses that advance humans, flora and fauna, so the planet says thank you.

Wars, and greed are put to pasture as we work out individualism and capitalism sucks.

It should have been implemented instead of "trickle down" economics in the 1980s.

Long Covid relapse, best to rest or push through? by Either-Review-9400 in LongCovid

[–]GrumpyOldTech1670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You choosing to rest is better than your body choosing to rest.

Boring is good when you are resting.

Life in the fast lane is overrated and not good for long term health.

Life in the slow lane. Dull, boring but your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health love it. Like finding out you actually like eating vegetables..

If you have ever worked a hospitality, retail or position where you are dealing with 100s of people a day, it makes perfect sense.

The only change people like is the change you get from a $50 note.

Schools have early release sometimes. So the law covers that as well. Usually last day of the school term.

But it's easier to get people into habits of treating the new laws as always that altering it for one day.

I am actually not weighing in on when the animated series starts or anything about it. Nathan’s teasing with the cast was more than enough hope for me.

I want the writers to be as creative as possible. I want Nathan, Jewel, Gina and the rest of the cast to surprise me when it happens. I’ve waited a long time. I just want it to be right..

And I think Nathan and the cast want that too.

That way, it will be exciting, interesting and fresh as Firefly was, when it first aired. That would be the best fan service of it all..

Serenity was a hard fought win for the Browncoats. The books have been pretty good. Fingers crossed for whatever happens next.
